You need to downshift. 45 mph is to slow for 6th gear. You are most likely lugging the engine

To answer your question - yes...I've driven a couple of cars and it is normal.

lol if you're just cruising it's fine but if you need to accelerate you have to downshift. Or if you're going uphill.

I know many people on this forum are adverse to data. 45 MPH is 1,069 RPM, which is obviously within the 1k to 6.5k RPM band the engine is SAE certified to operate at WOT.

Therefore, it's impossible to "lug" the engine at 45 in 6th.

The NVH you perceive is irrelevant.

As for the gearshift shaking, it does it all the time, even in neutral.

I try not to shift into 6th until 50mph while cruising on level ground. That being said I will ride it down to 45 if in traffic, but if a hill or any sort of acceleration is needed I'll downshift to the appropriate gear.

Shifter shaking is normal and just changes depending on engine speed as well as vehicle speed. Also road surface variations will add to the shaking as the engine/trans are on mounts and contain some inertia.

At 45 mph in 6th gear the engine is at a severe disadvantage.

In terms of...?

Are you trying to say vehicle acceleration isn't optimal. Of course. That is however not the topic. The sub-topic was "lugging", and at 1069 RPM, the engine is not lugging even at WOT. This isn't up for debate. If you want more acceleration, downshift, obviously.

This is how I manage it as well.. the shifter vibrations used to worry me but I've learned it's within spec.
