A10 Noise/Dealer Visit
Hey guys. I took my 2018 A10 in for a rattle noise under deceleration. I was contemplating doing some small mods and wanted to get the noise checked out under warranty before I lose it. Dealer had my car for 10 days and finally called me yesterday. Turns out, the rattle is coming from the transmission. They said there is a specialist for the A10 that has to authorize any work/parts for the transmission and it’s a one to two week wait before he can even look at it. Dealer says they don’t think it’s anything major, but it’s a little concerning. Searched the forum and can’t seem to find similar problems. Any ideas on what the noise could be?

Possibly in the torque converter????
Maybe a planetary gear set bearing letting go causing a rattle from the offending gear. I bet they don’t take it apart if it is the transmission. I bet they replace it completely. Provided the noise IS from the transmission. |

They are confident enough that they are bringing in a transmission specialist. Seems like it’s coming from the torque converter to me, but I’m no expert in transmissions by any means.

Could be a cracked flexplate ( flywheel).

Sorry about the problem. This is possibly the first mechanical failure of a stock/warranted A10 out of what, 6k units ?

That would be my luck! I had an idler pulley and tensioner pulley go out as well. I also have the clunk over speed bumps (end links) but dealer swears they are tight.

My 2018 A10 needed a new transmission @ 300 miles because whom ever built it installed the main seal backwards. Since then the new transmission has been flawless. I even got some $ out of the ordeal.

Not the first. Mine has been in the shop for 4 weeks now, parts will be here this week. 1st/2nd gear clutch pack blew, metal throughout, replacing valve body also as can't get all the shavings out. Car completely stock.

You mean $10,000 out of GM? I PM the details to the OP. This is my third ZL1 previously 17 A10 & a 18 ZL1 1LE. Due to the diminished value & being in service for 23 days I retained a lemon law lawyer.
