New guy opinion ... You'll probably spend as much on fuel, lodging and food as shipping it I would imagine. I just drove mine home last night 2.5 hours in 40deg temps and it was an exercise in self control with the factory rubber and cold temps. I have a few tiny chips in the rear fenders from the sticky tires flinging rocks which I expected. I am more of a driver, less of a park and polisher and like cars that look driven but I am still going to protect those fenders with expel and ceramic coat the car ASAP. I am going to put the ZL1 Add Ons splash guards on the front probably as well. If I was to do that drive I would mask at least the rear fenders and have the tires swapped and ship the stock tires home. The suspension is firm but tolerable for me. If you can't tolerate bouncing or road noise I would advise against. People ship cars every day. Not that risky with the right people. It is fun to do a road trip in a badass car though. I drove from Lubbock TX to Oregon in an M Coupe. 2000 miles in two days and had a blast.

If the weather was nicer, then maybe. Problem is the tires are not designed to function in temperatures that low that you may find in higher elevations. Other issue is the 2000 miles will put you over your fluid break in replacement intervals. I would suggest shipping it. This will give you plenty of time to get familiar with the car in an area you are comfortable in and provide you time for the suggested break in procedures. I purchased mine in June and drove it home 500 miles from southern CA to northern CA ( Flew to LA / drove to SF). By the time I got home, the initial break in was ready for the first oil change. I took the drive easy and kept back from vehicles to reduce the chances of rock chips. Made it home with no issues. It was definitely a lesson on restraint driving this car on the road and having to “drive it nice”.

Shipping it is probably the most responsible and smart thing to do. However, i think this is one of those things that you do just because you can...I’d drive it

***Update***

I have been busy this week with some other things, and the dealership has been unresponsive so I haven't had time to work out shipping details. Either way I got a call today and the car had already been ship and shows up tomorrow. The dealer was familiar with shipping low cars as well as high end cars and he handled it all for me. So no road trip and I get a car tomorrow! Yeah!!!
