Tickling the battery, 6gen.

My SS has been setting for 3-4 weeks, lousy weather. (COLD!)

Been thinking, it might be a good thing to do something with keeping the battery up to full charge.
We're likely in for another 6 weeks or so of cold winter crap.

What do you guys do?
I'm not worried that much about the motor, but just concerned to keep the battery up. A discharged one is susceptible to freezing, and ruining the cells.

???

(looked around, saw nothing relating to this here)

Try a search for battery charger, this car eats batteries for breakfast, lots written sbout chargers....and how to hook them up......

Google "camaro6 battery charger"

Get a good battery tender if you like your battery! It will die quickly. I have 3 all year on certain vehicles I don't drive much,

and the batteries last 5 years or more no problem.

Deltran is what I have also. Get the 1.25 amp one for $50.00. Don't get the cheap one.

Wire it into the + and - terminals under the hood by the fuse box. Makes for a clean installation. Some good vids / instructions on this website.

My $20 Battery Tender Jr. works fine. Hooked it to the + and - terminal under the hood. It even charged my battery within 24hrs when my cluster warned the battery was low while upgrading my speakers.

Any time mine sits in the garage for more than 3 days, I hook up the tender. Cheap insurance to make sure she will start next time you want to drive her.

I saw another post somewhere on this forum where someone suggested sitting for over a week will kill the battery on one of these. Best not to chance it.

Here's what I use. Amazon says it doesn't fit the Camaro but the CTEK site says it does.

https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-40-206-5.../dp/B00CD44RQO

Up to 4.3 amps and has a maintenance mode.

Some camaros have no problems sitting weeks, some just days....no one has figured out the problem yet. It's not just bad batteries.

I put a weather proof one in mine... Also helps double as a battery warmer in the cold to help starting, lol.

Mine sat at the dealer in Md. for 18 months and of course it was dead. They replaced it before I picked it up. But they or me didn't think about 4 flat-spotted tires, which I discovered a minute after leaving the dealer when I got on the freeway. Back to the dealer for 4 new 20 in. run-flats and the 1100 mile drive home. If it was cold in south Florida,it would be on a trickle charger. I have a new Deltran that will probably never be opened though.

Read the specs.
Jr model for up to 55 ah batteries. (Smaller batteries like motorcycles, ATVs etc)
Bigger plus model up to 79 ah batteries, like the full size one in our cars.

The little one will work but the bigger one is better/faster.
