Time to spend money.
I think I have decided on the Magnuson 2300, Kooks headers and RF CAI. Will I need to upgrade the fuel system now or can it wait. Or if I do it now will it be problematic? My local speed shop says I need them now but the just could be trying to upsell me.

Unless you plan on running ethanol/much higher boost you will be fine as is on provided boost pulley and pump gas.

If I add it now, would it be a problem? I'm just wondering if I should do be it now so later if I want to add more boost it will be already in.

Add it now...why wait and pull the charger back off later? Do the fuel system, pulley down, headers, and tune.

Agreed, I did the same thing. Didn't want to have to pull the SC to do the HPFP and injectors.

That was my thought process. I will just shop elsewhere for the fuel system upgrade. The want $2061.00 for the works.

Agreed with the above statements. You will save money on labor if you do everything at once while they are doing the initial install. Your builder is not trying to upsell you.....he is trying to save you money.

If you wanna keep it under 600 rwhp your fine. But if you have any indication your going to go past that at some point do it when you install the Heartbeat. I've had mine off about 6 times making changes and its just better to do it once. Lt4 pump and injectors plus the intank pump. Glad you picked the Maggie, you'll love it.

I did the LT4 HPFP and Injector install last week. It is actually a pretty easy install, however my car has a centrifugal S/C, so I still had the factory intake on. About 90 minutes start to finish to do.
I can't tell if your car is a 1LE or standard SS, if it is a 1LE then it is supposed to have the ZL1 / LT4 low side pump in the tank. If not, they are not a lot of money ($200ish) but you are probably looking at 2-3hrs of work just to change that. The cheapest place for the HPFP when I was looking was RockAuto - $615. LT4 Injectors was actually DSX - $497 with shipping. $70 for both the new fuel lines. Common street pricing on both is around $1300 - $1400, throw in the $200 tank pump and 4-5 hours of labor and you are at $2k installed for the full fuel system upgrades. Dalton at SkidMark will sell you the HPFP, Injectors, E85 sensor and their auxiliary fuel line / pump kit at around $2300, which can feed 850ish HP, where as the complete LT4 setup is probably about what 750-775. |
