While I"m Waiting for my 1le...
I guess I have read most of the threads on the 1le segment of Camaro6 and watched most of the videos on YouTube about them. One thing I've noticed is the drag strip guys are having trouble launching and 12.3 @ 114 might be about the best possible bone stock. Yeah, I know, the 1le isn't a drag strip car, but it is a place to run legally at over 100 mph or so. Some questions, if someone wants to share:
1. Is lots of wheel hop relatively normal on launch? In most of the videos it looks like there may be too much traction causing wheel hop and...is there a bone stock fix for it? 2. I'm not much in favor of burning up these expensive Goodyear tires at the drag strip. Is there a reasonably priced rear wheel rim for drag radials that will clear the brakes? 3. It looks like no-lift-shift is nearly as fast as the Auto 8. Some say it's very difficult to execute and otheres say it's easy. What do you think? Just wondering...

Don't waste your time at the strip unless you upgrade the rear suspension. Upper and lower trailing arms, and upper control arm. I think each is 100 bucks for the non adjustable and they bolt right in. These cars wheel hop like hell...

NLS isn’t hard, just do it, to many babies out here scared to do it, wheel hop is bad, not worth going to the track on street tires or stock setup. And 1LEs just don’t like brake stand burnouts, more of a dump the clutch and go kind of girl.

I did that stuff on my 5th gen Camaro and it didn't help one bit. I'm going to take my 1le to Memphis a couple times and set my bone stock times and then do a few mods and see what happens. Beyond that, I will go to CamaroFest and or Holley LS Fest and car shows. Memphis also has a road course and track days which I will surely take advantage of. I'm going to love this car!!!

Guess I got lucky. My 1LE didn’t have wheel hop like my 5th gen did. My 5th gen was horrible.
My best run on a bad launch was 13.01@112 bone stock with 2000miles. For the rims, you can look into racestars, they’re price pretty fairly, or if you want nicer and lighter you can go with welds. But they’re not as easy on the wallet. No lift shift... I’m trying to get used to it. It very hard.. for me anyways... to do it after driving manual cars for so many years and having to lift to shift. It is quicker. Once you get used it it becomes much easier. |

The rear brakes on the 1LE are the same size as a normal SS. This means you can use the same 17" rear wheels that fit on the SS. Race Stars are cheap. The Weld RTS costs more than the Race Star but seems nicer quality.

I made a few trips last year to the track and had horrid wheel hop. Both with and without using the launch control.
I plan on doing the BMR links, but the first thing I want to try is the rear cradle lock-out. Looking at videos on the BMR website, you can see a lot of movement in the cradle under just normal driving conditions. |

No idea on the wheel hop, I tried a couple of launch control mode runs for fun and nothing bad happened. As far as no lift shifting it can be a challenge if you're a long time manual driver, I still have trouble not letting off the gas.

Indeed NLS is all about developing new muscle memory where that right foot doesn't twitch with the shift. I have to consciously mash the pedal to the floor and practically lock my knee out to avoid the twitch that comes from 45 years of muscle memory (oh that sounds old!). It takes concentration and practice. Make sure you NLS at high rpms - at or near red line.

Don’t waste your time on stock wheels/tires unless you have seat time.
Race Star 17x9.5” in the rear & 18x5” up front

No lift shift needs some practice. Especially if you're a long time manual driver. Not lifting the gas when shifting takes a little concentration at first haha. But it is an awesome feature and I love that it comes standard on all Camaro.

NLS is super easy, keep right foot planted, clutch, change gear, release clutch. I suppose I have practice from my simulator (iracing), but it really is easy.

40 years of muscle memory is sometimes stubborn.
