Zl1 stuck at 3rd gear and wont shift to 4th.

Hello everyone. My first track day with the zl1.. kept it in track mode and auto trans. On 3rd. Round the trans. Wont shift to 4th. gear!! I had to make it manual then again auto and only then it started shifting normally. This happened 3 time.
I have also noticed that the area under the arm rest got extremely hot to the point where the mobile kept there stopped charging. On my way home, I noticed that the car jump when shifting from 3rd to 4th. Gear (when driven in manual). Any similar experience?

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order. Any repairs will be covered providing the car is stock and has the stock tune.

Check trans fluid. Scan for codes. Does it only happen when the trans gets REALLY hot (over heats)? Trans cooler? I know it's got to be hot where you live. What are you keeping your sessions to? The A10 can only take about 25 minutes before the heat starts to pose a problem, maybe less in 100+ degree temps. Also, a service center visit should be in short order.

Agreed. Hopefully there's qualified techs in Abu Dhabi.

I missed that he is located in Abu Dhabi... lol. That might make things a bit more complicated.

Each session was 20 minutes then 20 minutes break.. always does a cool down lap every 2 laps. It wasn't that hot that day temps were around 70 degrees.

Sounds like the transmission was defaulting to third gear.
Not sure if this is normal when the transmission has a problem or is overheating??? But by the OPs description it certainly sounds like the transmission was seriously hot!!!
Get it to the dealer before you burn it up.

I took it to the dealer and after a couple of test drives they said the car looks fine! But told me to keep the car for a full check. I am going to drop the car this week and see what happens.

Hello Scott, I did took the car to the dealer and kept it there for a few of days for full inspection. I was later told that the car is fine, trans. oil is in good condition & there is nothing to worry about! I dont know shall I contact GM direct for such issue or I just live with it?

thanks,

zain

What is the mileage on your car and what year is it?
Is this the first time this has happened?
If they say it’s ok then drive it. It’s good you took it to the dealer so it’s documented and if there are further problems you have it documented that there has been an issue in the past.

Was the mobile charging on the wireless charging pad?
