Randy P was commenting on the different throttle mapping in Track mode vs. Sport mode. Track mode has softer throttle rate. PTM has nothing to do with the throttle, although each mode tweaks different sets of parameters. (edit: I removed the reference to the chart that only listed PTM settings)

It seems odd that in order for the new PTM setting to be enabled that you would have launch control disabled (all off).

The drag strip at the bottom of the chart is only referring to the type of launch control available in each PTM setting. If I remember right, you also have to go to PTM race in order to use line lock, which is only used for drag racing. To me, it only makes sense to separate the drag settings from the track settings, but it doesn't sound like that is what's being done here, unfortunately.

I’m very interested to see how it’s implemented. While I’ll admit I didn’t try PTM Race with my drag radials at the track, I haven’t had great luck with it on the street. Always seems too intrusive. For that reason, I never used line lock at the track either. Too much jumping around.

It would be awesome if they gave us a drag menu setting that turned TC completely off, put the diff into drag mode, and allowed us to access the line lock. I can dream, I guess.

I agree with this. I used line lock for the burnout and it helped a lot. Only thing is you have to be ready with it right before you pull up to the lane. I wish it was easy to access so I’m not pushing a million buttons to get it.

No way you can drag race this car in ANY PTM mode. It will not allow you to launch the car and intervene. Everything has to be off (7 seconds)

Interested in hearing more about this. I have a few more months before my Zl1 comes out of winter hibernation...

Agreed. I wonder though if the ELSD control is all part of that nanny group?

I have zero problems with braking DR burnouts once TC is off. In fact so far on 17x305 ET Street S/Ses I no longer spin at all at the line even loading the tires. Track prep must have been good for those runs I guess.

I wonder exactly what the update does to help? May just act like a good old standard diff? I wish for the vert diff since it saves 40 pounds.

I have an ‘18 and used it all last year. This has been out for awhile, nothing new

Yeah. Why they didn’t let us access the line lock with TC off or Comp mode is beyond me. I’d prefer that over the brake stand method I was doing.

I guess it’s just a tap of the TC button, a tap up to sport mode, then a double tap to get back to Comp mode. Still, I’d rather focus on staging and getting a good launch.

Let’s hope they give us a PTM drag mode or something. It would be stupid for them to give us a drag race calibration for the diff, but not allow it to be used with the line lock.

You're confusing line lock for the new drag calibration for the eLSD. Line lock was brought up because it sounds like there isn't going to be a separate drag mode/menu that allows line lock and launch control to be used with this new calibration. The diffs drag calibration is only activated when everything (traction and stability control) is turned off.

That’s not what this thread is about. We’re talking about a new calibration that you can pay for that locks up the E diff harder for drag racing launches. It doesn’t come on these cars from the factory. We all know about line lock and launch control. Unfortunately, neither are great for the strip given the mode you need to be in. All of us that have run quick times run with everything off or in Competitive mode.

Looks like TAC assigned the calibration to my VIN so I can now get it updated. I'll bring the car in next Monday as rain is forecasted for the rest of this week.
