Scratched CF

Oh yeah, day two of the beast. Found a cat on my hood while at the warehouse. Cat ran off when I opened the shop door, leaving a nice scratch on the CF engine cover. Anyone have any luck removing scratches in the clear coat on these? I've color/wet sanded before, but never on clear CF pieces.

Clear coat is clear coat. I would start with something like Meguiar's Scratch-X. If that does not work, go with maybe 1000 grit wet sanding then polishing compound. If the scratch is too deep for that, then a re-spray might be required.

Maybe look on You Tube for a video on removing scratches.

Meguiars scratch x is really pretty darn effective. I was dubious when I used it for the first time, but it removed a sizable scratch in the clear coat of my GTO. It's not a miracle worker but it works surprisingly well.

Pictures? Try a DA polisher, foam or microfiber pad, and some cutting compound. Something tells me if you have to ask, you do not have these. Take it to a detailer.

Scratches shouldn't be that deep, use a polish if that doesn't work use a compound then polish that should take care of it if all else fails then wet sand.
