Problems after header install (SOLVED)

What’s up guys. I’ll make this short. Installed TSP headers with off road pipes to npp. Car DOES NOT have tune yet(that might be the answer ) but I noticed it has a lot of backfiring on acceleration and some bucking going on in low Rpms. Also I noticed that at idle it’s shaking the car more than usual. I’m thinking misfire but checked all the plugs and pushed them in. Nothing is touching the headers but I’ll triple check tonight.

Thanks for any input. I think I’m probably freaking out too much about this. I know this could all be because it’s not tuned yet.

Maybe like 30 miles. I just checked an nothing is burned from headers. Got msd wires coming in just because I do believe there is some sort of spark jumping from the plugs to headers because they are soo close to the actual header.

Make sure your plug wires are not pulled out of the coil packs. I recently installed ARH headers and noticed that my wires were backing off when I was putting the coil pack covers on. Also, if you don't have a code reader, take it to Auto Zone for a free read out.

Lol that’s exactly what happened I forgot to add it. When I put the wires back in during install I noticed that it pushed the wire inside the boot. I got new Msd wires coming in in 2 days. Hopefully that will fix this issue. We will see.

did you remove the plugs during install? could be a cracked plug. you didnt try to gap them did you? You cant gap iridium plugs without a special gaper. check at night to see if you have a bad wire. the factory wires are actually the best as the ecu is designed to work with the resistance of the factory wires.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I did not remove the spark plugs while installing them. They actually went in without too much trouble. I don’t think I cracked a plug. How would I check if I did would it be noticeable or something really small and chipped? Also I already ordered the msd so we will see what happens with them. And I did not check at night to see if I have spark jumping from header to plugs but will do so tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help guys I sure do appreciate it. I’ll take off the spark plugs tomorrow and see if any of them are damaged.

I'm glad you found the problem. I'll be sure to check my plugs if my car experiences the same symptoms once I've got it put back together.

ya they can crack even if you dont think you hit them that hard. I always go the long rout when doing stuff ill take stuff apart just to make it as easy as possible. like removing plug 8 ill remove the reservoir and to make it easy.

So what if you don't have a cracked plug?

I have a M6 SS with CAI, Long Tubes, Ported IM, Ported TB and its 85* here. When I first start the car...its idle hangs around 1100, if I try to drive it before the motor warms up it bucks and surges for the first 30 seconds.

But if I let it warm up...its good to go.

Any ideas on that?
