No advertising, no incentives, half assed "mid cylce enhancements", no moves to get out of last place in the pony car segment.
Makes perfect sense if you are killing the product. Why dump/"invest" money into it? I bet by 2021 the Camaro is gone. Or fully ev in some other form. I think 2020 will be 2002 all over again. |

7Gen Camaro could be based on Corvette C7, which would perfectly complement Corvette C8.
This would not only be cost effective but also make for an amazing Camaro, just imagine a C7 package with a new body with more horizontal lines (opposed to the wedge of the C7 styling) and some retro cues.

If GM kills the Camaro wouldn’t that be admitting defeat to the Mustang?

No, because GM doesn't care. GM's vision for the Camaro is making the best of the parts already in use. If there are no parts, there is no Camaro. If the Camaro doesn't sell, they dump it. We are seeing a repeat of the 4th gen Camaro. The 4th gen Camaro crushed the Mustang in every performance metric but the Mustang was a much more usable car. The Camaro died and the Mustang lived on.

Look at how Dodge has not only kept a 10 year old car alive but actually increased sales. They develop big horsepower engines. They increase power of their existing engines. The develop specialty packages. They call their cars actual names. The 1320 edition comes with 1 seat. The rest of the seats are a dollar. What does GM do? No bespoke engines. No power increases. They don't care if the Camaro offers more or less power than the competition. They stick with the same safe engine choices (no huge horsepower or exotic designs like the Voodoo). Not only that but any time GM makes something cool, they take that thing and spread it around until it gets watered down and dies. They did it with the Z28. They did it with the SS and now they are doing it with the 1LE. If there is a 7th generation, don't be surprised if the 1LE is just a sticker package that you can get on every model, even with an auto trans and convertible. Even the V6 and Turbo 4 1LEs are lazy money grabs. It's like they have no idea how to keep the Camaro alive.

With the C8 Corvette delayed due to electrical harness issues, it's possible that it delayed work on a 7th gen Camaro. Whatever work they have done on the 7th gen, if any, would be pretty early since we've gotten no leaks at all, and it's likely in a stage of planning where they could safely pull the plug and consider it an more minor R&D loss for any work they did (again, if any.) Some people jumped on the electric COPO as a sign that GM is designing a 7th gen. I would argue it's just a design study in electric drivetrains for performance cars. They could use it in anything. Whatever that car would be, a Camaro or otherwise, I would assume the 6th gen will be long out of production by the time it comes out.

Are we still living in 00's year ? Is Pontiac still alive or is it going to reborn ? Do Japanese rivals start to kill their sport car lineup ? Are Cobalt and Monte Carlo still in the market ?
Those are my question about killing Camaro. I still remember Japanese rivals did kill their sport cars in same time while GM stoped 4 gen Camaro. Now, Toyota will bring back their 3 famous sport cars in future although sport car market and their sedans has been declining recently. Camaro is one of car which is actually selling in whole world behind Corvette and Caddies. Does Camaro sales effort not include in worldwide ?

I believe Camaro and Corvette are being developed together as a duo, to perfectly complement each other.
With the C8 being rear-mid engine (and potentially AWD?), the Camaro will take the place of the Corvette C7 as the front-mid engine RWD sport car.

- GM has updated the Alpha platform to Alpha 2. - We have seen camouflage CT5 test cars ....the CTS replacement - CTS/ATS volume has been so low that LGR plant really needs the Camaro volume to remain feasible. Production of the three car together totaled 71,959 units ...Camaro equals 70.8%! All that’s said, GM could pull the plug on the North American Cadillac CTx production and just build it in China like the CT6. Kill Camaro. If we don’t see test gen7 Camaro’s in the next six months, I think it’s canceled and GM is surrendering a 193,521 (2018) unit segment to its rivals instead of competing for it.
