I agree. I know it is easy to be over protective of a new car you just paid a lot of money for but people really need to look at the details before jumping to conclusions. 1 mile traveled, average 5 mph, all those hard accelerations and only 1 hard braking all adds up to nothing.

LOL Onstar is a joke, I just checked my last trip from when I drove it to storage (is there a way to check older ones?) every stop I made was "hard stop" the whole time I drove it was "Hard acceleration" and I don't mean from stops, I mean even while cruising. So I guess no passing? 35 min 12 miles, 0.4% over 80 mph.

I tried the Progressive tracker about two years back in my 06 impreza, all I remember is that "hard braking" was specified by decelerating at about 7 mph per second, and that means on short city blocks (about 200+ feet long) with stop signs that you can accelerate to about 20mph before applying brakes about 40 feet before the next stop sign. I got the lowest amount off because of this "hard braking" I was only 2 miles from my work but still had a dozen of these a day. Or how about this, at 70mph you need almost a thousand feet to stop "properly". These "safety measures" to show you are a "good" driver are way more dangerous than just driving alert.

If this last visit pissed you off that bad you're going to have a hard time finding a shop in a year's time. If you're that worried about 1 mile of travel with an average speed 5 mph I'd recommend changing your own oil or possibly stay at the dealer and watch them work on your car. Also noticed that the last one of these I saw was from the left coast as well. Is this a "thing" on that side of the country? #me too, I was a victim of 5 mph car abuse.....

Please tell me you didn't go in and demand that they fire the tech or manger of the shop.

I don't think they would let him watch them work on his Camaro because of insurance purposes. At least at my dealer they won't.

Watching is different than being inside the bay/shop. Walk around back to the bay doors and watch from afar.

You said what I was thinking! These are the type of people that business owners hate. I would fire both of them as a customer, just not worth the hassle. Especially bashing a company or person publically on a forum! Complete BS!

You are on to something with your location comment. This is the Silicon Valley, where most suffer from having an elitess/entitlement attitude. It's one of the worst parts about living in this area, the other being the cost of living.

Lots of smart people here, but with that comes a lot douchebag / assholeish attitudes.

For everyone stating the 5mph thing. That speed is never right. I could post up my last autocross data and it'll show I only went 5 mph when I was between 25 to 60 mph for the entire trip the app logged, 5 different times.

Also. It'll take longer than 10 minutes to travel 1 mile at 5 mph. Not including stopping at red lights or waiting to turn left across traffic. Plus piss off a lot of drivers in the process since this was apparently on busy city streets.

I surely don't miss the automotive business. There are a bunch of customers out there like this. Outside of the commission pay, they were one of the biggest aggravations of the job.

The title of your thread is the dealership "abused" your car. That is a pretty serious allegation. IMHO before a person makes that kind of public allegation he oughta have more than a printout from an app that appears ambiguous at best.

Well at least the title of the thread title has been changed to reflect a different version of victim-hood. Now since abuse didn't fly we're triggered by a 1 mile joy ride all over town. Must be a real small town. Nice adjustment.

Hope the tech doesn't end up in front of a Senate committee one day applying for a supreme court position. I'm sure this abuse and brutal attack on a customer's car will be brought forward with a vengeance from the usual players. Too funny.

Time to let this one die bro. Your car wasn't abused, you were not victimized and everything is OK.
