1LE Trans Fluid Amount
I bought 4 liters of trans fluid but my dealer said cause the 1LE has a trans cooler it requires 5.2 liters. Is this accurate? My searching didn't come up with much. Thanks.

I just did mine and purchased a case of six as it was cheaper than buying five bottles, it ended up taking 4 and maybe 4-6 oz out of the fifth, I may have spilled a bit to.

I posted Tremec's datasheet for our TR-6060 in this thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=24
It's fluid capacity is 3.45 Liters, approximately.

I thought I read somewhere you needed to fill it full then take some out. Dont remember the details. Or why its bad to over fill.

Yea the dealer told me the regular SS takes 3.45-4 because it has no trans cooler and the 1LE does have the trans cooler so it takes up to 5.2.... very conflicting info. |

Ughk, your dealer mislead you. All manual trans SS's have the front horizontally mounted trans cooler.

We do these pretty often for our track customers. 7.4 pints (3.7 qts) for the SS and 10.2 pints (5.2 qts) for the 1LE is OEM recommendation. On average we see just shy of that, but not much. We have exclusive offers on Amsoil for Camaro 6 members, so dm us for more info if interested. Hope this helps.

So does the SS 1LE use more fluid than the standard SS or not? |

Deleted my reply. My recollection was incorrect.

"IMPORTANT: Transmission fluid level setting must be followed exactly as written or the transmission may be overfilled or under filled. For fluid recommendations, Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (MM6) Transmission fluid level MUST be 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) below (1) the fill plug. This can be done by one of the following methods: 1. Bend mechanics wire to 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) to check fluid level. Add or remove fluid as necessary. 2. Fill transmission until level with the bottom of the fill plug hole, then remove 240 ml (8 ounces) of fluid." See the attachment in this post called "manual trans flush.pdf": https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500494 I also referenced this thread when I did mine: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492814

Sorry to revive this thread, just want to make sure I didn't mess anything up. I just did my transmission fluid change. I didn't measure any quantities and had only bought 5 quarts of fluid.
I emptied out my fluid through the drain plug (removed the transmission support), and I filled it back up to the fill line. I siphoned out 240 ml of fluid (1/8 inch below fill line). Car drives fine and the temperature seems the same, but there is no way I filled 5.2 qts of fluid.
