ECS Kit Installed - Fan Runs Wide Open on Startup?

Well spent my weekend bolting on my ECS Novi 1500 kit - everything went pretty smooth, other than ECS didn't ship the pulley for the head unity with it, so I have everything done other than the belt and top pulley.

Fired the car up and have a couple of CELs (I also put in off road pipes) but wanted to let the car warm up so I can burp the coolant.

Whats interesting is that dead cold, the car will fire up the radiator fan immediately, and runs wide open.

I unplugged the main plug for the fan so it would warm up, burped the coolant, shut it off and plugged the fan in and started it again so the coolant could flow for awhile.

That being said - I thought the fan would shutoff when I got the coolant full, but it still runs wide open on startup.

Is it some kind of safety thing with the water being low, or something to do with the lean condition code it has from the off road pipes?

My problem on the Procharger is the MAF is hard against the radiator shroud, and this hampers getting a good electrical connection to with the extender cable provided. Twice now, once when I first installed it. The fans would run on SUPER high because the temp sensor is in the MAF and it was not getting a good signal. Not sure if either time there was a check engine.

Was the issue between the MAF and the intercooler (ground?) or in the harness itself? Curious how you corrected it.

The Vortech ECS kit has the MAF in the intercooler, passenger side right on the bottom (pretty much right under the tow hook screw point)

Fans will run at high speed if you have a CEL.

The Prochager has the maf inserted in the silicone hose just before the TB, to get it there, there is a 6" extension cable provided. This cable is hard against the shroud. I've had to reposition the pipe and re-seat the cable. I will have to trim the hose and maybe form my own bracket to get this hose way from the shroud. I have a long silicone hose, but the Prochargers in the picture an in the instructions show a solid steel black pipe in this area, the pipe is smaller. There was NO reason to shove the maf sensor into the shroud... 15 degrees toward the engine would have fixed any issue.

Spoke to my friend who works at GM at the Prooving Grounds (R&D Center) - said anytime there is a major CEL that it can fire the fan.

Also said they see it quite often where unhooking the battery and hooking it back up (after 15 minutes) usually corrects it - they are constantly unhooking and hooking up the ECMs and says there is no real 100% predictable way to avoid it.

I need to get the CEL's addressed (MPVI2 is on its way) I'll have the tuner fix the primary cat delete and it should go away

Yea and the 2107-18 E92a ECM's are far more sensitive then the regular E92 from 2014-2016. po420/430 o2 codes wont set the fans off on the 2016's but they will on the 2017-18.
