I'm about to close a deal on a new 2018 2.0L A8 shortly

After reading the thread about the latest "fix/flush" coming next month or February, should I do it? The car was made exactly 4 months ago. Thanks for any serious input and if it's all negative,it won't hurt my feelings at all!
I just need some guidance from this group of A8 owners.Thanks.

I just bought a 2018 A8 V6 about 4 weeks ago, and so far there's no issues with the trans. If there's no problems then there's no reason to change the fluid IMO. Not all all A8 transmissions will have this issue obviously, so if it doesn't then why try fixing what ain't broke yet

Thanks. That's the entire issue for me-I realize not every one has the shudder but I wonder what the chances or percentage for late MY 2018s are. And since not all have the issue, why not? I've got a 1050 mile drive home from the dealer BTW.

I mean it certainly shouldn't hurt I would think, but could likely be a total waste of time and money. Plus if the issue truly does exist on your ride at some point, from my understanding it will happen regardless of this new "suppossed fix". All I know is that if I knew about this issue before hand I might have bought a Mustang or Challenger instead lol. In today's age of modern advanced transmissions we shouldn't even be having this discussion about an issue that's been going on for a few years now. This combined with GM's history and recent layoffs have me extremely dissappointed in the company to say the least

Ask them if you can schedule your service appointments for trans service in advance. You'll need it.

Would imagine the 2.0 has different shift peramiters than the v8. Some guys have tuned it out which would make it model specific hopefully the 2.0 is tuned better, enjoy the ride

Thanks for that.
I wonder what percentage has the issue. I wish someone had an idea. And if so,why do some have it and some not.

I was just told by the service manager at a local dealer that it is prevalent in high humidity states like Florida and Texas!!! (I'm in south Florida).

6th gen Camaros with the 2.0 I4 engine don't have AFM, which, as far as I know, significantly reduces the probability of the shudder issue (not having AFM doesn't magically fix any design issue, but removes one of the trigger conditions).

I definitely wouldn't let this deter me from purchasing such an amazing car. If you don't plan to mod the engine or the drivetrain and you have a helpful dealership that does quality work, there's nothing to worry about---should GM end up having to flush or replace the torque converter 2-3-4 times under warranty, it's mostly their problem, not yours, except for the time lost waiting for the dealership of course.

Thanks for that. No mods planned and I drive ~4k miles per year, but after reading that lengthy thread with 165 posts on the A8 topic, some folks don't have the issue until 15k miles or later which in my case would be out of warranty. Also, can someone explain to me that if you've had your car in for service 3 or more times for the same issue ,why haven't you used the Lemon Law in your state? Baffles me!

With the 5-year powertrain warranty, you should be good up to 20k, and I don't recall anyone with the shudder starting after 20k. I also think (not entirely sure, though) that if you get it fixed under warranty, then are forced to take it back with the exact same issue after the warranty expires, it should still be covered.

Another option is to purchase an extended powertrain warranty, although that would be on your dime, so it's a last resort. Then again, are you even sure you will not want to upgrade after 5 years?

The shudder has absolutely 0 to do with the motor in front of it. The AFM only amplifies an existing problem. The A8 is garbage without a proper converter, TCM tune and fluid.
