I had a V6 RS LT1, pretty snappy car, and fantastic mileage regardless of the gas.
Felt really light and responsive.
When i traded it for the SS I have now, the biggest thing notable the SS handles like it's a bigger massive car, but it's kinda deceptive. The V6 will wind up and really squirt along quickly.
The low end torque off idle of the V8 is amazing, and what I was looking for; cost of gas barring none.
It also has the V8 rumble- unmistakable and pleasant to hear, especially when idling thru traffic after pulling fuse #51.
But you'd get some looks when tromping on the V6 going up the highway. Sounds sorta like a hot 6 cylinder done right. And it's a pretty amazing and powerful/flexible engine in its own right.
(call it half of a P-51??!!)
The only thing, it's lagging just a very small amount of that low-end grunt the V8 has.
And it costs roughly $10k less than the V8.

SAE Net I after '72 was a bit more accurate but SAE Net II in 2003 is what cars are rated according to now.

The 330 that the current v6 is rated at is far more accurate to what it's putting to the ground, maybe within 2% of actual, than the rating calculations used for the 4th gen.
Eh... I dont know if I fully believe that. Most 6th Gen V6's are putting down around 270 - 280ish HP to the ground which falls within the same margin of error the LS1's encounter % wise.

Perhaps the calculations were improved yes but you're still looking at the base calculations that were made prior to 2003 -- those calculations were not re-modified to fit the new standard. They were plainly underrated from the factory.

As they were underrated, after 2003 their rating would have remained the same as most cars went down. The 3800 went from 210 to 195.

Didn't know this was V6 vs Thread

I am absolutely certain the V6 1LEs will be great second cars when the used price starts to drop some day. I was totally taken with the intake sound on the one I rented. Surely sounds like a well done after market CAI. If I ever get rich, I would have one as a second DD.

Our every day driver was rear ended a few weeks ago and we had it in the body shop for 3 days and I was able to rent an RS V6 from enterprise for that time. I tell you, I was very impressed with the way that car looked, handled and how powerful it was. It wouldn't exactly satisfy my need for speed, but it certainly would have made an excellent EDD.

I will more than likely buy something from one of the forum members who are parting with very low mile gorgeous 1LEs. Awesome cars.
I drove my 1LT 2016 manual trans V6 for 10,000 miles. Loved it for my daily driver and everything else like cars shows and cruise nights. The car always impressed me. The final week I had the car, I decided to take it down the 1/4 mile track, the car ran a 13.5 which is faster than any stock muscle car of the 60's and 70's with a stick mind you..

That is an awesome ET for any stock V6 and I almost hate to say this, but I bought a 2008 Mustang Bullitt (because that was my favorite movie). It made a great car show vehicle but I got rid of it, probably, too soon because it was so slow. With some bolt ons the best it did out of many tries was a 13.6. That's pretty sad for a light car with a 4.6 liter engine and it had a few go fast bolt ons. Your car would have creamed it.

Exactly. I just bought mine from a dealer almost 1100 miles away. V-6 M6 RS with NPP. 8 months ago,I was in a new 2017 C7 that I traded for a new 2018 Cruze turbo diesel. Just drove 1100 miles to trade it for my Bright Yellow. The C7 and my Camaro are both good cars but it different ways. I'm just fine with 335hp and regular gas and a great exhaust sound from NPP. My Boy Racer days were long ago and its great to spend $2 for gas now. My insurance with USAA dropped $180 per year too-from the Cruze.
So according to this thread in particular and this forum in general, life only exists in quarter mile increments. Who new?

Very cool cars...all of them. I, too had a Chevy Cruze turbodiesel and it was an awesome car. Highest fuel mileage ever was over 60 mpg and, it was an awesome driver...not exactly quarter mile friendly...lol.

I am thinking you're ex military and probably Air Force...maybe once stationed at Tyndal. Is that correct?
