help with third brake light swap

Just swapped out the third brake light to the smoked out version today, but the adhesive on the top side was barely sticking out so it prevents the light form sitting flush? what would be the best replacement for the adhesive. not sure about what thickness id need

The brake light is also held in place by clips, not just the adhesive. Did you push it hard enough into the slot?

Had the same issue first time around. The adhesive that came with it was too thick and it stuck out further than stock even though it was an OEM replacement part. Put some thin double sided 3m tape on it instead and looked much better. Don't have a part # for the tape though sorry. Lowes has a good selection you can browse.
