Transmission Shutter

I have a 2016 camaro 2ss. Had torque converter replaced twice and shutter has returned. Only 14k miles...Any suggestions?

Wait for the fix that's supposed be out Q1 2019 or buy a aftermarket one and get a tune to tune out slip.

Wait for 2019 fix.

BTW...it's "shudder", not "shutter."

I'd wait for the proper fix. If the torque converter was replaced twice and the shudder returned again, something other than the TC needs to be changed, and I think the fix is likely to include a new TCM tune.

This is a big problem with the 8A. If you want to keep your car past factory warranty you should get an extended GMEPP warranty. I want to keep mine even though I am pretty sure the shudder will return so I purchased the GMEPP through kenfichtner@rimrockauto.com. He sells the warranty at a discount.

If GM was a good company they would recognize the issue and give us all an extended warranty on the A8 auto trans. I plan to keep mine as long as it is under warranty. Love the car hate the issue with the transmission/TC. GM should have used the ZF 8 speed which is a very good transmission used in Chrysler and other auto mfgs.

So I had the flush at about 11k miles. Now I am approaching 25k and the shudder is back but most noticable at 1200-1300 rpm running about 55mph. Previously it was about 1600-1700 rpm. (So the new type fluid did not work, and I didn't think it would either)

I would not doubt if the shudder was documented during the warranty period that GM would honor the "New" upcoming fix....although that would be dealership by dealership maybe....lol

Hopefully they just issue a service bulletin on all the A8 Camaros and send notices to the owners for the years affected no matter the mileage.

Slip tables need to be set to "0" for all gears in the TCM. It's a tuning issue.

Yes, and if you have had them it is very upsetting to know that your transmission will have issues in the future. So.... GM needs to make their customers whole. Meaning they have to warranty their problem not us having to pay for their poor engineering when the warranty runs out.

So stop reading them. Otherwise contribute something useful. It doesn't go away by driving in manual mode as someone suggested. The only fix is wait for the Q1 2019 GM fix or have the slip zeroed out in all gears or at least in 7th and 8th which is where you get the shudder mostly.

Has there been any of these shuddering issues with the A10?

You are probably correct, but that poses a problem for me. I am still under warranty and I have to remove my transmission computer and send it out to get hacked in order to change the codes. I believe 17 and newer models require this.

I'm sure there are many in the same predicament that think GM should fix it.

I wish GM would offer that tuning option.
