U Haul auto transport
Howdy gang. Anybody ever use the auto transport from U Haul to transport their 6th gen?
I have a 2018 2SS and looks like we will be moving soon. There is snow on the ground and I would rather put it on a carrier vs driving it, especially if the weather turns bad. Anybody have any experience with these? I have used one before to transport my old 4th gen that I had; no problems with that. Thanks all.

I used a uhaul trailer to bring my Gen6 home when I bought it new. Trailer towed perfect. Handled and rode perfectly with my car on board. Had to put the plastic spacers back n the front springs to get the front end height up, to clear ramps. No issues otherwise.

Not sure about regular SS, but SS 1LE, ZL1, etc comes with plastic spring spacers up front during transport. I'm not sure if all dealers give them to the customer, I found mine in the trunk when I got my 1LE.

Contact Plycar.
I wouldn't tow open especially in bad weather without some kind of protection for rocks and dirt thrown up by the tow vehicles tires. |

I towed a car about 1300 miles and the one lesson learned is that the car will get obliterated by dirt mud rock and so on. Definitely cover it up!

Get the silver (galvy?) UHaul trailer and take the air damn pieces off. Will fit on that trailer like a glove. The orange trailers are not wide enough.

Protection aside, I as others have used the U-Haul auto carriers and they are really stable trailers. I like them.

You may need to elevate the drive up ramps to decrease the approach angle so you do not scrape the front faring. And you may have to put the front tires on 2 by wood blocks in the front of the trailer. I had to do this when I transported my 2011 WRX down to Florida so the front faring would clear. Once on the trailer I had no issues at all and hauled the WRX no problem.

If you want to protect your car from sand and salt, towing it on an open trailer will be worse than driving it.
There are open trailers with large shields, which will at least prevent stone strikes (but not salt). I don't know that anyone rents them. You haven't mentioned how far you're going or whether you would consider a professional transport company with an enclosed trailer. For me, that's the only option. |
