Cams that drive like stock?
Are there any cams that do not lose any low-end power? And drive like stock?

A cam with a tight lobe center will provide even more torque than stock... I know hard to believe... idle will be rough though.

@sal from their website, gives you ave tq readings from 3000-6000 rpm. All well above stock whether stage1 to stage 4. I have an S3 with a manual. I had to relearn to drive which only took the 3 hr ride home from the shop. Best way I could describe was when you first get in the car, feels like first gear felt like you were trying to pull off on 2nd gear but not that extreme by riding the clutch. After a couple of hours, Im taking off like it was stock, rush hour etc ...fluid but with more power. Lopey idle is the icing

Should be able to...the stock cam is tiny so you can easily go bigger and maintain stock like drivability. You won't however be able to go much larger without giving up tq under 3k rpm. So it depends on what you mean by low end power? Most cams give up torque from idle to 3k rpm, in exchange for more peak torque and top end power.

Encylopedia Brown strikes again! Just messin.. Under 3000 rpms, thank god I have 3 other vehicles to do that in. Don't think my car ever saw 5th or 6th gear the 10K miles Ive put on it. Simply an instrument to make music with.
Seriously though, does a dyno even register below 3000rpm? Id have to check my sheets. If not it would be a seat of the pants feel which would be very subjective lol

You could also have some advance ground into the cam (eg 4-5*)

I went with a stage 1 cam in my 2010 LS3. I was told it would drive like stock and did drive real well, however it did not drive like stock.
I am also interested in a cam with modest gains that drives like stock. I do not require any lope, just power (even if it is minimal). I would love this car at around 490whp. I am still weighing all my options, FBO with H/C or FI... I was told cam motion cores have a more mild ramp rate. This with the proper specs would be my first choice. We are likely in the minority... |

Comp cams has some that should drive like stock but increase the power. Some can retain the DOD if you like.
I believe the smallest is around 208 @.050 and wide LC which is keep lope down and vacumm up. |

BTR stage 1 220/ 220 .600 lift + 6 advance and 114 LSA.
I know the Texas Speed cams are all suppose to use the 20 degree cam phaser, this is going to help some in the drivability. I just checked and even their drag cam is spec to a 20 degree phaser. Their small SV cam is just a pinch more over the BTR. I don't like the comp cams they all use duration to make power and that WILL effect drivability.

I would ditch VVT if going cam anyway and run Prays Stage 1 with his ported heads. That combo has been mentioned to drive better then stock and make 550+ whp. There is a guy running low 10's with that setup.

NINOSS, I am debating the same thing. The supercharger would keep our cars driving like factory if we went with an lt4 or Magnuson. I wish I could find someone local with a stage 1 cam that I could test drive lol. But low 10s all motor does sound really good.

I agree, boost is the way to go for torque and lots of it. If you were closer I have no problem you flogging on my setup.

I'm glad someone thinks like me.. After 4 builds with stage 3 and 4 cams I want stock idle/driveability with good power. The Jannetty smooth idle cam or the lingenfelter GT31 w 8:2 fuel lobe is on my list.. I'm over the chop especially in the 6 gen it doesn't seem right to have chop in this car, like it's outta place the car seems to refined and nice to be shaking or loping and difficult to ease over speed bumps or slow take offs. In a 5th gen I welcome it all day especially since it has that muscle car look. I'd like to romp all over ferraris, lambos, and McClarens.. and have them think it's just a stock zl1.
