it is only a matter of time until we are modding electric cars and going faster than ever. I will be embracing the change

The world will go only EV even GM has required nationwide for zero emission. The oil engines won't exist long in future. European makers are doing their EVs. Of course, their programs include that sport cars going electric power.

I think E-Copo is good start for GM's future of sport EV. It isn't wrong for GM.

I've voiced my opinion in the past about my distaste for an electric Camaro. I'm not against an electric muscle car, just don't call it a Camaro. The thing I find saddest is that watching the video of the thing making a pass down the drag strip was underwhelming. I mean you hear the tires scratch a few times, but that's it. No cams thumping, no superchargers whining or turbos spooling, no flames jumping from exhaust pipes, feeling the exhaust pulses thumping through your body, nothing. The true "diehards" or racing will continue to race them because of the need for speed. However, I'm concerned that spectators will diminish because half of the experience of going to a drag strip is to smell the race fuel and listen to the sounds of pure American muscle rip down the strip. With no extra benefit other than saying you were there when... why go to the strip?

To the guys saying how bad electric is. You will own an electric sports car in the future, get used to it. It is funny to hear, i will always want a gas only car in my garage for sentimental reasons. But i dont know if you are aware the vastly decresead cost in maintenance of an all electric car compared to a gas. Within 20 years there will be much faster, cleaner, and cheaper to cars to maintain. Without a doubt. Say how much you dislike them now. They are gonna eat your lunch eventually.

Look at the Tesla racing channel.... dude is killing it, in a car that wasn't even directed towards drag racing.

If you want to be the old geezer at the track who just won't accept new technology because it's new or because he can't understand it, that's your decision. Just be prepared to lose A LOT of races. 9s in the 1/4 mile are about to be the current 11s.

What I want to see is a internal combustion/electric motor hybrid in a Camaro. like the mclarens. electric motor to get off the line, like an animal, and then the motor kicks in on the top end.

I don't doubt they will be much faster than what we have right now and I don't begrudge anyone ownership of one currently. However, running a quick $/mile calculation to figure cost of annual fuel cost comparison including the initial price of a fully loaded Tesla P100D vs. a fully loaded ZL1 1LE coupe and the break even of driving $/mile + ownership was 36 years before you break even. Now I'll grant you electric vehicles won't need oil changes like an internal combustion engine would, but on the flip side replacing and disposing of those lithium ion batteries used in a Tesla aren't cheap. Eventually the cost of everything will go down on battery technology, either that or inflation will catch up to their prices, or both. However, the argument was made back when gas spiked to $4.00+ and everybody bought a Prius in 2008, the cost of buying one far outweighs the cost of just driving what you have.

Again, I'm not against electric vehicles, but I don't want to be the one to pay for the research of the technology. I'll keep my "old school technology" and with the difference in price I'll eat up Tesla's in equivalent price with modifications. One day I'll probably buy a performance electric vehicle, but I'll always remember a Cadillac commercial for a CTS back in the day which said, "The real question is, when you turn your car on does it return the favor?". That's the kind of car I want. One that excites me to drive even while sitting waiting to mash the go pedal at a stop light, not just when I'm able to accelerate at ludicrous speed.

So long as it can round a road course well the range is decent, I'm all for it. Wouldn't mind a hybrid as noted above so long as it's a solid/serious performance machine.
