Understand your point fully, but TC should have intervened and cut the power way before the OP reached redline. That's what makes me think that TC was actually off vs on. Especially in Sport as TC offers more intervention there vs in Track (and least in Track PTM Race). So something doesnt add up here imo.

just tried it and in sport mode cold pavement it lets me light up the tires...
no comp mode and traction on, if I stayed in it it might have dealt with it but it certainly let loose wheel hop and all (funny how in the summer no wheel hop but in winter its bad..)

No, I guarantee TC was on. To clarify one point, it didn't go to redline. The shift lights came on Green, and that's when I backed off. So what's that - about 5000 rpm?

I went back to the scene of the crime tonight to try it again. It's fun after all. Tonight, was dry again, but this time it was 43 degrees. Same drill, flat road, slowly accelerating in first gear, and this time I made sure to EASE into the throttle. The tires were spinning again before I got the pedal to the floor, and the green shift lights came on about 30 mph. I pulled over, did it again with the tires slightly warmed up from the first run, and same result.

It didn't seem like the TC intervened at all. No wheel hop, no sideways action, it was just wheelspin.

The tires were still showing "COOL" in the gauge cluster.

I'm thinking it doesn't behave at all like this when it's in the 80s, but now I have to wait over half a year to find out first hand.

Thanks for checking. Perhaps TC doesnt activate until certain speed is reached? No other ideas re possible explanation here and my car is already in storage.
TC should not care about temp afterall. And it clearly does intervene in higher speeds such as on a race track etc. Enjoy your burn outs!
