Factory warranty claims and the MMA have nothing to do with an insurance claim on your accident.

What state agency oversees warranty issues in your state? In LA, it's the DOI.

The LA DOI enforces both.

And, this was in response to the "you can't take on a big corporation yourself" comment.

So, it would cost $10,000,000 ($10 million) for GM to include these systems with the car. When faced with this, GM would do a profit/loss analysis to determine if potential warranty claims and other costs would exceed $10 million. If potential losses are less, then you don't install. You take the warranty claims and eat them, knowing that you are saving money in the long run.

I'm not buying the cost being the reason. IF GM thought the car needed it they would design a model and have it made for pennies compared to what your paying for a fancy aluminum kit that is aftermarket. They would be buying hundred thousand units or more.

Second even if it added $20.00 to the cost of the car it would be passed on to the consumer that is nothing on a $40,000 car or heck your taking $55,000.00 base Corvette

The kit to which I'm referring costs $243 retail. The parts alone cost around $200, if I were to buy from another source. I'm assuming that GM, because they would buy in bulk and wholesale, would get roughly a 33% break (my experience in buying bulk and selling to the US govt). So, that brings COGS to $133. I said $125 for ease of rounding, and to give benefit of the doubt in case GM is able to negotiate a slightly better deal that Uncle Sam (doubtful).

Then, I assumed that they could manufacture at least a couple parts in-house (although the vast majority of parts on our cars are manufactured by third parties), so I reduced it by another 20%, to arrive at nice (easy-to-calculate) $100 end cost for them to install.

If I'm making the decision, for my own company, on whether to install something that costs more to install than I will spend by not installing it . . . the decision is easy.

No. It covers extended warranties through aftermarket vendors not factory warranties. So you told us this big story about your crappy Saturn Ion for no reason at all other than to sound like you are a big man for "taking on allstate". Congrats bro.

There is no truth in statements like this. Recent history of GM, Ford, Mopar, and even other manufacturers show that they will cut corners to save costs.

The comparison of cost vs warranty claim is spot-on. Even then, issues like the ignition switch, or Ford's transmissions coming out of park catch the manufacturers trying to knowingly cut corners to save a buck at the expense of the consumer.

The Ohio Department of Insurance handles insurance claim issues.

The Ohio Attorney General handles factory warranty claim issues........ Oh gee, look at what is mentioned in the second paragraph on the OAG's homepage:

I would just like to take a quick moment to point out that so far, nobody who owns a Camaro with a problem from this has shown up here to post.

You have no idea what it would cost a company that designs and builds in the volume of GM. The part doesn't have to be built just like the aftermarket company, there is a lot of over kill to attract you, like flies to glow lights. At the end of the day it's a small cost on a 55,000 corvette. So if it really needed it, I think it would have been added

Well, Chevy took the time to included 11 radiators on the ZL1 for tracking the car. The 6GEN SS they included brake cooling ducts for the owner to change out for tracking the car and also provided factory warranty for track use. There are several points I could continue on that would point that if it was a issue it was a cheap add. Also I pointed out that GM can build parts much cheaper or have them built much cheaper then some small group selling aftermarket parts so I think there is a lot of truth to my statement.

Not according to Warren Byrd (google him). As a lobbyist, I've worked with him on several occasions.
