Winter storage!!! (1st winter with Camaro)
Hi everyone! Hope you are doing well. Sad to say but winter is coming up pretty quickly. As this is my first winter with my Camaro I need some tips on storage. What do you all recommend me to do?

wash it/cover optional
inflate tires to 40 fill with 90+ octane, for one winter, sta bil not needed, but ok if you want put a $30 battery tender on batt, connect thru the front engine bay do not start the car until youre ready to use it again. |

Several pages of threads will come up giving you all the information, and disinformation, you will need

Hello Michibro. Here is the list of things I do.
Wash / Wax the outside. Vacuum / Clean the inside thoroughly. I turn air re-circulation on so it shuts the vent to the outside. Fill the gas tank full. I put a fuel stabilizer in it before I drive it home from the gas station. Change the oil. This year I also changed the diff fluid and trans fluid but it is not necessary. Put it on jack stands on all 4 corners. I use rubber blocks between the jack stands and the frame. Remove wheels. I also remove the windshield wipers. Probably not necessary I just like the overkill. Install trickle charger. Shove towels or what have you in the exhaust pipes (remember to remove these in the spring) I have a plastic cover I put on it. Then say goodnight and let her hibernate for the winter. |

I fill the Gas full, pull it into the garage, and walk away for 3 months.

Suspension is not designed to be stored full droop. Puts strain on bushings. This step is controversial........I never have done it and no problems. Why remove wheels? If you are worried about flat spotting, (Not really an issue with modern tires stored for a few months) just pump up the pressure if you are really worried. Now, what if your house caught fire? How would you move the car out? (I know, not a great possibility but hey, you never know) Plastic cover? You want that to breath and not trap moisture. People really over due storing a car for a few months. Relax!

Be sure to include an oil change before you put it away. You don't want old oil with possible contamination on the engine parts. I've always done that with my boat even though not many hours on it (455 Olds).

Take the battery out and store inside your house. I used to be an advocate for just hooking up the battery tender, did it forever on my Harley’s, but last year I put the Camaro on a tender and in spring, it started just fine, but after about a month the battery was shot. Would die intermittently. Only 7k miles on it at the time. 😡
