Fake exhaust sound

Happy Friday everyone, I was reading all these other cars that pump fake exhaust sound into the cabin in some way or another. I was wondering if the 2.0 Camaro does this?

If you have the Bose option, yes. You can turn it on and off also. I always leave mine on, I actually like it, but my exhaust is also stock.

No, the 2.0 even with the Bose system does not add sound to the cabin. That is SS feature only.

Sorry bro, it most definately does. I have it, and can enable/disable it through the HMI. You can clearly hear the difference as well. My old 16 also had it, but was not a noticable.

What is the procedure to disable this if it is there? I will check myself and verify.

From GM:

"Each engine has been carefully tuned for a distinctive performance sound. All 2.0L turbo models feature active noise cancellation, which uses sound waves to cancel unwanted cabin noise. Models equipped with the available Bose audio system also feature engine sound enhancement, which amplifies the native sounds of the 2.0L turbo engine – and can be disabled based on the driver’s preference.

Both the 3.6L V-6 and 6.2L V-8 feature mechanical sound enhancers – resonators that direct induction noise from the engine bay into the cabin. Both engines are available with a dual-mode exhaust, which features electronically controlled valves that bypass the mufflers under acceleration, delivering improved performance and greater sound levels. With the dual-mode exhaust, drivers can personalize the exhaust sound, from a “stealth” mode to the most aggressive “track” mode."

If I remember right, vehicle personalization, driving mode, engine sound management, enable or disable. You must have Bose option.

This option was available for me. I have the options of Auto or Off. I played with it just reving in neutral and could not tell any difference. I will play around later with it while driving. Since this is controlled by the HMI, im guessing after market upgrades wont change it?

I stand corrected. It's there, however, I don't notice any difference in sound with it on or off what so ever. It's similar to the "driveing mode selector", it doesn't do a dam thang. It's probably just there for the V6 and SS to take advantage of.

im thinking you aren't understanding that quite well...

closing the valves is what quiets the car which can be mostly noticeable from the outside of the car.

I actually had a long chat in PM with one of the engineers at Bose who worked on this project. Long story short, unless you work at Bose and have access to their equipment, you are not going to alter it.

Actually,(sorry bro) the shift points do change between sport and tour mode, also the steering will become tighter.

"With the dual-mode exhaust, drivers can personalize the exhaust sound, from a “stealth” mode to the most aggressive “track” mode."

mentioning NPP... seems irrelevant as closing and opening valves is not an artificial sound.

I just copied and pasted GM's official quote as it was written.
Everyone here understands the I4 does not and never did have NPP.
Thank you for your concern.

I have a manual. Driving modes do absolutely nothing for my car. Maybe it has an affect on auto automatic cars only? There is no NPP for the 2.0T. The in cabin exhaust sound does not work with the 2.0T.
