Dyno question

Going to my first dyno day event in the morning. I'm a m6 guy, what gear should I dyno in?

4th or 5th since yours is a Manual. I imagine your 4th gear is 1 to 1. Good luck and you should make around 580 to 600. I would consider going to a 90 mm pulley at some point for some more boost and power.

Thanks laynlo. I'll research to determine which gear is closest to 1:1 i expect 4th is closest although if memory serves, neither one is dead nuts direct drive. Since hp is just an empirical derivation based on torque & rpm and torque multiplication is directly related to the final drive ratio, it seems that the dyno should be able to do the math and yield the same result

Regarding the pulley, I'm adding lt4 high side fuel system components, cam kit and e85 sensor this winter. Got everything on the shelf ready to go. I'm saving the pulley swapping until I get all that stuff installed. I'm working with Ted Jannetty. Thanks to all the experimentation ted and drsag have done, dialing my car in should be a piece of cake.

I'm doing the wrenching and Ted's doing the tuning. Worked out great when I install the current mods. Ted did switch me over to hptuners for my next phase. We tuned with the sct x4 up until now. I just installed my digital wideband gauge last night in preparation for logging with hptuners. Got to learn how to use the software now which can be a challenge for an old guy lol! I want to get my jms booster installed and e85 sensor installed and verified before tearing down for the cam, pump, injectors, pistons/rods, etc.

You may be able to help with the pulley situation. You and Russ must have a dozen or so laying around! I assume the smaller pulleys require a shorter belt?

I have the 98, 95, 85, 80, and 75 on the car. My predictions are as follows plus 3% for having a manual transmission). I think @Laynlo is trying to temper expectations.
98 - 5psi on stock internals and exhaust (A8 530whp - M6 550whp)
95 - 7psi on stock internals and exhaust (A8 550whp - M6 580whp* fuel limitations on 93)
85 - 8.5psi e70 after cam and headers (A8 700 whp - M6 730whp)
80 - 10 psi e70 after cam and headers (A8 730 whp - M6 760whp)
75 - 12 psi e70 after cam and headers (A8 761 whp - M6 787whp).

The belt for the 80 and 75 was a 080845.
I believe the belt for the 85 was 080842.

Hope that helps. I need to go around and see if I can find the pulleys. I should sell them for half price.

FYI - I waited until Ted was available to hit the dyno and called him. That way I could log the runs and make the changes he wanted to see. We used it as a tool to confirm what we were seeing on the street and the last run went to about 185mph (that was a scary proposition).
