Will having a taller front versus rear tire mess with the 1LE's computer/electronic systems?

Shouldn't. The car does need to be driven to that the sensors can "learn" the new tire sizes. that just takes a short drive over 40mph and maybe some good amount of braking.

Cool. Thanks. I was planning on running 305's square, but I do not live in a place where anyone is going to go out of their way to mount them on a 10" rim if it is difficult at all. I know it is possible because it has been done, but I watched the guy at Nationals unsuccessfully struggle to mount a 305 on a 10" rim for quite a while and he was giving a better effort than anyone I have locally would.

19x10 or 19x10.5 (same front and rear)and 285/35 RE71R 19x11 F&R with 305/30 RE71R Factory size with 295/30R20 RE71R It's been about 12 years since I autocrossed last. And boy what a change of vehicles since then (GLHS Omni and a 1st Gen RX-7). The last El Toro event was my first in the Camaro. I ram in CAM-C because so much has changed since before. But I'm not building this Camaro for any class, It's a toy for me to enjoy at autocrosses and track days. So I'm not worried about fitting in anywhere. Best run of the day for me (53.6xx). I didn't get a chance to swap over to the Goodyear tires so I ran on the Conti ExtremeContact Sport. Yes, I know I'm slow and that I wasn't pushing the car that hard. Sept 30th 18 El Toro SS 1LE 4th run

Run 19x10 / 19x11 if you want to stay legal to run in Street class.

If you don't care about classing, a square setup is good for handling, tire rotation and tire longevity. If you deal carefully with clearance, the 19x11 may work. 19x10.5 square is more common. I think you'll find that CAM-C is a fun place to play.
I am running 18x10 on my V6 LS 1LEl with cheap Nexen NFERA SUR4 tires that seem to be working well (not that I have compared them to anything else). |

For all you California people, PCA had an event at the Minter Airport located near Bakersfield... Might be a future venue.
Wasn't expecting to have solo time trials hosted there though. The start along with the finish section allowed for some tuning on steady state and turn in, maybe with some "high speed" stability testing... Though the surface was really dusty so might have to take things with a grain of salt. Heikotter was in a STU EVO and drove a slightly faster course but was still a second or so off the Camaro. <3 HP STP 2017 Camaro Bridgestone RE-71R Minter Airfield 10/7 PCA Event Jeff STP 2017 Camaro Bridgestone RE-71R Minter Airfield 10/7 PCA Event Nicole

video from our last local event of 2018! on to 2019! weighing out a few options but im thinking about selling or trading in my 2017 for a 2019 1SS. Some brake re calibrations done by the Sean Bailey and the awesome GM performance driving team might force my hand in buying a 2019... hopefully this means less or no more icemode or hard pedal!

Saving our most treaded tires for the upcoming Fontana SCCA events and got creative with the left over F-Street tires. We ended up running PCA this weekend with 265/285's on 9.5/11" wheels. Surprisingly with all the changes optimizing the car, the less ideal tire configuration still provided decent times. Only reference was Ken Motonishi which was driving the winning STR ND at Solo Nationals(similar tire conditions to what we had) and one of the brand new GT3's on Bridgestones that would be SS legal.

This past Sunday, we ran in the cold with drizzle that was persistent enough to keep it wet. With wet in sub-40's temperatures on stock SS 1LE tires, the car was near impossible to drive. Experimented with multiple settings as well as with all the nannies off and ended up doing best with it set on track with wet performance mode.
My driving, especially throttle inputs, leaves a lot of room to do better. So, I'll take credit for sucking, but it was about the most frustrating day of autocrossing I have ever had. I need a better plan for the next time this happens, and am wondering if anybody has found settings that seem to optimize the car for an admittedly bad situation. My belief is that the RE-71's would have performed better in this temperature range (especially with the wet) than the stock tires. It was like driving on PVC pipe. Considering going with a set of continental's, PS4S, or S007A's for the stock wheels and Re-71r's on 19's to have more options in the cold and wet. |

I've autocrossed on RE71's in the low 40's before, they aren't great, but they work significantly better than the stock tires.
