He’s saying that it would be insufficient for a V8 1LE that’s meant to be pushed on a racetrack. There’s not enough intake in the facia to provide air for a V8 that’s being driven at 90% on track on a 95° summer day. BUT I can see GM dropping the 4-Piston rears, the summer-only tires, and a couple of auxiliary coolers (and the LSD, if they’re brave enough) and making a cheaper SS with the same base equipment as a Mustang GT or Chally R/T. If they claim in documents and the owners manual that the car is not suited for use on a racetrack, they don’t have to worry about it having track-ready cooling like the current SS.

That didnt work out so well for Ford and the GT350 (W/O Track Package), they ended up in a lawsuit and ensuing GT350 models having the Track Package included. I do understand that there should be a mind set difference between a base V8 car and a higher end model like a GT350, but people suck, haha.

Also, I'm going to speculate that its a new Z/28 model hiding in plain sight. Haha, someone has to do it.

That is a pure full size truck motor only. No way it will go in anything other. The powerband and tq and design would make for a horrible driving Camaro.

Wasn’t the 2.7 an option in the survey that GM sent out to Camaro owners? It peaks at the same point as the 2.0T, but it peaks with 310hp and 348lb-ft of torque. I’d take that for daily driving over the V6 or 2.0T, especially if it’s a base engine. That’s not to mention the added fuel efficiency.

Screw the C8's what's up with the Camaro cameraman? lol A smaller V8 with the better looking front end would be tempting...

If this was a prototype for a discount V8, you think this would have been camo’d up. It may be a power train mule for something else.

![]() BTW, the 1LE for the 4-cylinder does include heavy-duty cooling including, engine oil cooler, dual outboard radiators and rear differential cooler. Or it just could have been a Camaro used for past testing that Chevy pulled out of its mule pool as a guard dog for the real prototypes on this trip. |
