probably the best and "cheapest" way to run AS in the 1LE.

No problem! and like apex here said it is also probably the cheapest way to run AS! I got my wheels for under $1200 and a set of RE71Rs from him for about $1350 if I remember correctly.

It has been so long since I've posted. The shop has been really busy. Ended running at Crows Landing this past weekend and revalving the front shocks for more rebound range and I'm kind of hitting myself in the head for not doing it any sooner. With how the car is and the "hard pedal" aka ice mode, it has deterred me changing the valving given the improvements that the car has gained. Testing though, went very well and I believe the car could be more consistent especially with features that don't favor the SS. Really hard to say as I've only had 1 weekend on them.

Solo Nationals Videos
F Street Camaro Bridgestone RE-71R Lincoln Solo Nationals Day 1 on the East course, the car was extremely pushy and tagged an entry cone on the middle turn around. Day 2 Softened the front bar for the West course and was chasing the rear end the whole time. Last run on the West, costed me quite a bit of time with the slide because it was a trickling affect that pinched off my line into a hard pedal. F-Street was a 1 year plan and just to make dampers for the car which I'm very pleased with. Will be using the same dampers for ESP/CAM/STP. Here is a picture of the front struts. ![]() Probably have 10mm of lowering adjustments like the ZL1 1LE ![]()

Another day in the sun. I was off course a bit today.....for some reason treated the slalom right before the 1/2 point sweeper as a wall on my 1st 3 runs. Had the president of our club take a run and beat me by 9 seconds. Good to see that my car can do it....just need more practice. |

Third event in the books in ST/SP/CAM setup and running a 11" square setup with 285's (left over rears from F-Street). I am really enjoying autocross a lot more because tight courses are no longer an issue (within reason). Tire wear seems to be decreased significantly on the front tires and times relative to STR seems to be closer.
1st event I was approximately 1.5 sec back from STR 3rd event - Practice day, raw times was similar, Champ event was .5ish away. Videos from the practice, champ event is not up yet. Jeff, what would be a good starting alignment for CSCC autocross's. Last Sunday was my first autocross with my car (and first one in 12 + years) and it still has the factory alignment. I'll be running the Goodyears until they are dead and then do you think the RE71Rs in the 295 size would be sufficient or should I look to some 19's and run 305's?

My friends SS 1LE was able to get -2.7-.8ish of camber in the front aka the track alignment. The rear of my car is -1.9 degree and total of 1/8" Toe in. Running the 10"/11", my setup I've ran the 285 on the front and 305 in the rear. I have limited experience with testing 305 in the front on a 11" or 10". With that said, if you are running the 10/11" stock SS 1LE size, I would recommend still the 285/305 combo based on my testing with RE71R on other cars and this car. PM me if you are in need of 19" wheels later on.

Jeff. Are you saying you would go with the 285/305 Goodyears with the 20's versus 295 RE-71r's all around? Or, are you saying you would go 285/35/19 and 305/30/19 RE-71r's on the 19's in 1le widths instead of 305's all the way around?
Planning to pick up some 19's from proparts, but I have been a bit concerned about getting the 305's mounted on the 10 inch rim. At nationals, we attempted to get 305's mounted on a 19x10 rim for the 370z I was co-driving, and it was no bueno. 285/19's should fit well, but would be taller than the rears. |

Sorry I was multi tasking hard yesterday and my brain was scattered everywhere. I would go with the 285/35/19 and 305/30/19 combo on the 1LE width wheels instead of 305's based on my testing with the RE-71R. 265 > 275/285 on a 8.5" rim for the Camaro in F-Street form. Higher grip surfaces the delta was less significant but for lower grip surfaces, it was night and day difference. I'm not sure how this would mesh with the mag ride shocks though. I question if 255 might have been better for my car. You can PM for a code when you are ready. Thanks.

I wish i would have tested the 265 at lincoln. I like how they feel, sharp response, good turn in but locally i felt they didnt have the over all lateral grip of the 275. miller park isnt a super high grip surface and its only less grip ad the years go on. Might have to give them a shot next spring.
