So everyday I set my car to stealth mode before shutdown. Then upon leaving my neighborhood I put back in track mode. Today the options have reconfigured and is not there? So the car is always in track mode for the exhaust. There's nothing to put into stealth mode anymore? Anybody have this happen? 17 ss 6 sp

Yep GM known issue.

Send it in to your dealership and they'll get you a new radio.

I concur with blucrayon. It usually crops up if you have an a8, when you remote start with the remote, but has been known to crop up other ways.

your dealership will know the issue and possibly replace your headunit that's under your dash.

I think some options get disabled when vehicle is moving, not in park.


Like interior lights show mode.. only works when key ON. Kinda useless for car show when you are not in the car!!

Show mode works with the engine running... But only with my park brake enabled.

Driving modes, however should be available while in motion... Mine are.

mine disappeared on me for a little bit then returned few minutes later at the worse time.
17 m6 SS as well. haven't seen it happen since that time.

Guy i know with a ZL1 had it happen to him as well and it also returned randomly.

Had this happen to me about a year ago, if i recall it had to do with me opening the passenger door to put a bag in and then starting the car, i guess there was some kind of bug which didn't boot all of the systems properly and as a result the driving modes were missing. Little fuzzy on the details however my modes did come back by themselves the same day and it hasn't happened since.

While you encounter the "Drive Mode Disappearing" issue, please turn on your AC and look if the AC display icons at the bottom of the screen also vanish.

If this is the case, then it is indeed a known issue. I understand that it is a FW update. No need to replace any hardware (I.e. Radio / Related modules). There is a TSB regarding this issue and there it reads that GM is still working on a fix. This was a couple of months back.

One way of avoiding this situation, worked fine for me for quite a couple of months (syndrome did not re-occur), is to unlock both driver and passenger doors (press the driver's door handle button twice) and then re-lock and then unlock again.

Probably some power management quirk that is solved by re-activating certain circuits when doing the above process.
Obviously, this is just a temporary fix until GM comes up with a real solution.

I’ve had the drive mode settings option, only, completely disappeared. Came back after shutting the car off. *shrug*

Well I left work and the screen has returned? Assuming it was an update glitch or something? Still have a year of warranty 😉will keep an eye on it.

I had my dealer update the software in 2016 while they were working on other items. Mine still does it occasionally. You would think that they would have a fix for it after two years.

It's a power on sequence timing issue. I discovered that using the key fob to unlock and THEN lock the car before using the remote start feature solves it 100% of the time.

I do it by habit now and never even think about it anymore.

Has never happened again...
