Did the Devil’s Triangle this morning. Dragon-like, deserted, but the road is in worse condition and there’s sections with extensive residential areas so there’s always the chance for someone to be exiting a driveway or people / animals in the road. No scenic pull offs really either.

Hell that's only about 45 minutes from my house. Wish I could join you, but I'm working. Regardless, have fun!

The Tail of the Dragon is a pretty awesome ride - especially on a motorcycle. Yet... there are waaaaay too many morons on the Dragon. I suppose a weekday during the fall would be a lot better than a summer weekend, but it's very common to see guys crossing the lane and putting themselves in the way of oncoming traffic on blind curves.

I'd pass if it were a very busy weekend. But that's just me.

Did the TOTD on the way to camarofest at 5am in pitch darkness ( difficulty level 10 !! ) stopped tapoco lodge ,dragons den then went by the waterfall where they filmed the fugitive . I drove so hard I almost made myself naseauous , but my SS handled extremely well through the twisties . Very very little traffic on the road that hour I think I passed three cars the whole way.

Good day of driving. Left my place in Knoxville around 9:30am. Weather was excellent, bit on the warm side but good. Traffic was relatively light on the dragon and no sign of police presence. Saw one minor accident where a bike went in the ditch on the mountain side but everyone was ok. Got caught behind some pokey trikes (the 2nd one couldn't stay in his lane) the entire way down the Tail and met up with Driski at 11:15 at the Tapoco Lodge. Had some lunch and discussed the options between the Dragon, Foothills, Devil's Triangle, and Skyway. Given proximity, and that he's already hit Moonshiner, we hit the dragon twice and then we'd do Skyway.

We made a run up the dragon to the turn around at the start before the bridge. Discussed some stuff than tore back down. Lost Driski somewhere on that run and got back to Deal's Gap to wait up, talked to some bikers, watered, fuelled. Jumped back on the road and made the trip down to the Skyway for some more reserved cruising. Caught some rain at the higher elevation so had to pause for a moment so he could put the top up. Took a couple pics, finished off the skyway, refueled and cruised through to Maryville for some dinner and parted ways.

Good to meet ya Shaun, thanks for lunch & dinner and hope ya enjoyed the tour!

Couple of the proofs I'm gonna buy; killboy and us129photos. 129 slayer has a decent one or two as well

Yep, the tail of the dragon can be a lot of fun if the traffic is light. I got the chance to run it up and back twice (44 miles 1372 curves) earlier this year.

Everyone who can - should do it at least once.

OP - glad you had a fun and safe trip.

Here is a shot from one of my runs. The photographers do a great job capturing some good shots.

Nice shot!

US129photos consistently has better images, IMO. But I've bought images from all them, (US129photos, Killboy and 129Slayer) over the years. I want to say there was one more but I can't remember.

From CamaroFest VII

These are from after CamaroFest VII. I think we had 8 cars that headed over to the Tail. We ended up at the Dillard House in Dillard, GA. Great group, great meal and a great time.

I wanted to hook up with that group badly but I think I ended up having to be in New England around that time.

It was a great way to put an exclamation point on a cool trip.

Cool pics...I bought a nice one from US129 Photos, framed it and is hanging in my garage now, awesome quality. I think it is funny how they popup from behind a rock and take your picture in some spots.

Like the FBI or a PI that's tracking you because your wife wants to know what you're spending your money on
