Maybe bullet proof glass would stop it.

Just out of curiosity, how likely is that to happen? You're probably on to something in that it is more of a safety measure on GM's part. Or maybe it would be very costly to fab something see-thru that would be strong enough for such a scenario. I was thinking they could line it with metal but again, that is not really cost effective. And I'm not sure what good it would do anyway. I mean, my hood is always closed so it's not like I'd ever get to see it. It would only serve for the purposes of a car show or a meet and even then you'd have to clean it off.

I'm not sure on probability, of course it's probably one in a million. I've seen some crazy stuff, anything rotating at high speed eventually breaks and when it does, it doesn't stop easily. Driveshafts, fly wheels, wheels, timing chains, crank pulleys, etc. when they let loose at speed, it isn't pretty. So just my guess, I'm no material chemist so I'm not sure what's available to make such a thing, but the products I associate with clear and see-through don't seem to make a good shield. Also what about heat properties and many other factors? And yes, it would get splattered and nasty within miles of installing it I'd guess.

Every lid I've seen posted on here has been as clean as a whistle. The oil tends to puddle in the crevices in and around the cooling bricks and wastegate.

There are ballistic laminates that would effective for the application. It would not be inexpensive through.

Looks to be a rendering.

I am 100% positive the rotors aren't red and blue.

Mine was wet (light sheen) when I took it off. After I installed my catch can and checked it again after 2K it was dry as a bone. Guess this qualifies me as a catch can “fanatic”...
