This maybe the greatest thread I've read on an exhaust system on the interwebs.

Here we've morphed into legitimacy, and pro's/con's of HOAs.
I live in the sticks, about 1 mile before the grid runs out, and to another electrical supplier up the road. Only one who would object, is my cousin, 300 feet south of me, who has a doctorate, and think she knows more than I do; me being disposed to a high IQ which she can't stand. Being the snowflake/Twinkie she is, if I pull out on the highway before she gets her ricer significantly further along and has a chance to get ahead of me, she and her hubby will not acknowledge my presence, and look DOWN like they don't see me go by with the wife riding along with me. Glaringly obvious. I know it pisses her off that I'm driving such a spectacular car, as opposed to her 10 year old ricer. But since it's a FARM COMMUNITY, where there are going to be odors, noises, and other conditions befitting such a community. What could she fight ???? My opinion, it's a stock exhaust, (having a pulled fuse-- so what?) she ain't gonna have a leg to stand on in any dispute. Can't wait to start it up some dark late fall morning, and do a couple rev's. Needless to say, our voting records don't coincide. TOUGH. Passes inspection, stock, GO POUND MUD. And I'm not one to go out there and shoot firearms, or gun hotrods before 7 AM in the morning to give her any chance of screwing around with me. She knows better to kick a sleeping dog in the a$$. My 2 cents. If it was violating any noise restriction, GM wouldn't have sold it---period. |

Depends. What are the quality of life laws like in your area?
Also, revving the engine just to make noise (as opposed to taking the revs up to and holding at 2k to warm the engine, or some other legitimate reason) could get you cited. |

Why is the Camaro so loud at cold start and then a min later it gets quiet. I have a cat-back Stainless Works NNP exhaust and it sounds better loud.

Legalities aside, I've noticed that HOAs start off with good intentions and goals, but usually devolve into bickering, gossip, jealousy, and selfishness ruling the day....They turn into power-trip and juvenile game of one-upmanship, with lawyers, hateful attitudes, suspicious looks and revenge being the ultimate goal and daily routine...
Neighborly? Friendly? Respectful? Considerate?...Hardly ever lasts in HOA's....Enjoy your sacred property values and forced punishment manicured facades....They usually come at the cost of the very thing everyone thought they wanted....a nice life and friendly neighbors. |

Just wanted to point out that the loud starts can be tuned out. It’s under System > General and it’s called Exhaust Rumble. You can also control when/if the NPP valves close. I have it so track mode is always 100% open. Pretty sure it’s Performance Mode 2, but I’d have to scan to make sure.

Pulled 51 last night, no CEL and no noticeable difference than having set to track full-time in the menu.

Really? I'll have to take a look at that - I don't recall seeing that option. |
