I have had mostly manual fun cars. Bought the A10. Don't regret it for a minute. The A10 is great in AutoX and in passing on secondary streets. It will drop 4 gears just like that.
It makes the engine act like it is naturally aspirated since, when you are hustling, the gearing always keeps the engine in its power band. Can't do that with a manual. When competing, I always hear cars bouncing off their rev limiters since it is not worth shifting up, only to shift down going into a curve with a manual car. I use the paddle shifters for around town. It provides some engagement. Not as much as the manual in my old GT3, but it is still fun. For city traffic and racing, the A10 is as good as everyone says.

KTTXZ06 is well over 1000 HP and no issues at all from his trans. So you should be ok. In fact, I've seen people push enough power to cause engine failure while the trans was still holding strong. I think GM actually made the trans stronger than the engine. If it does blow it'll likely be due to whatever hand Ford played in the design and build of the A10.

There's also no comparison between the Ford truck A10 and what they did with this one for the ZL1. Two different animals for different purposes. I can't wait to get an A10 in my truck. The A6 currently in the Silverados sucks. |

I'm coming from 2 manual Corvettes then a Manual SRT Challenger.
I bought the A10 only because of the deal I got on it. ( I was going to order a manual with a sunroof for 2019. ) No regret, but from 10 yrs of driving American V8 rear wheel drive manuals, it does seem a bit different not having one. I do miss the feeling of torque that you get in each gear, or the subtle rev's when moving the car out in 1st gear out of parking spot ( especially when there are people who like cars are around. Your not revving it but the low rpm changes that you only get with manuals. ) Its also cool when people say nice car and comment that its a manual. Not sure about the ZL1 Manual as mines an A10 but you don't have the sound in the upper gears on the hwy with the A10. Even in track mode its very quiet. Too quiet in my opinion on the hwy, and I believe that the exhaust valves close above 5th gear and above in the auto while the car is cruising. At 70 in 5th or 6th in my Dodge, lean on it a bit it made nice V8 noise and moved forward..in the A10, this car just moves you forward..( albeit like a missile ) It does its job extremely well in my opinion. Not to mention the challenge at the drag races or on a road course. More work, more skill and to me more fun. Its something very subtle, but I think with the cars ive owned it and it would apply to this one, manuals put you more in touch with the car and give you more of a driving experience. Performance and which one is faster and all that aside, there is small connection that is lost. At least to me. If my car was in a parking lot at 6 weeks old now with 2500 miles on it and manual was offered to me with the same mileage color and options etc..Id take the manual. I would not go out of my way to get rid of the A10 however and wouldn't get rid of the car because of it. Ive got it, I made my commitment and an happy with it. Sounds conflicting but its not, and before anyone tells me how wrong I am its just my opinion and observations after 6 weeks and 2500 miles of ownership and answering the OPs question. LOL. |

That said everyone is correct I haven't heard of one dying yet. I would imagine it would take tuning to remove some of the torque management safe guards from the lower gears coupled with a stall converter in an effort for an amazing 60' |

This was my first auto performance car dating back to 1972. I traded a 2016 Camaro SS M6 for this thing. My only regret is I couldn't find an A10 without a sunroof. I've grown to like the sunroof, but I really like the lines of the double Mohawk.

My car has a new A10. 6K. The warranty repair bill for just the transmission itself was 5,800 ish.

Aloha Gang,
I have a 1Le and the M6 is smooth like butter. I daily drive this thing and i love it. A10 would be good for crusing but the M6 is not bad at all. It has all the new tech behind it like the rev match and hill assist so its pretty bad ass. Also more control of the car. I think its just a matter of preference. But I love the M6. |

I love the A10 but takes some getting used to, especially when trying to make very small adjustments in speed or braking. I miss being completely connected to what the car is doing. Takes some getting used to the acceleration or braking force changing without you telling it to do so.
That said... It is fast. Plenty of modes and options on the A10 to keep you from being bored in addition to it being the fastest way to accelerate a ZL1. |

I have the A10 and I will easy add the aero kit and the suspension + 19* tires Even the hood and side view wrap... So here is the A10 ZLE everybody wants... Make the good choice Buy the A10 instead of the 1LE Concerning the manual vs auto guys.... I was a driving Manual during 25 years before I hit the A10... No regret Track rats : will beat you switching gear under charge with paddles when you will dance with your feet loosing traction 1/2 a second |
