anyone else here convert from Mustang to Camaro?

I just did and WOW what a car this 1LE is,

That's what i did last week, just purchased a black 18 1ss 1le and I love it!

what a car this is and I got a heck of a deal on it!, have owned mustang since 18 years old, (39 now) and
have to admit mustangs are in trouble, The Camaro is just a better car, and way more comfortable for me.

seats more comfortable, sit lower, don't have that built in bump in back rest
6-speed trans is tighter, shifts better
car has a lot more torque and just feels faster, feels lighter
better electronics & stereo
and the wheels & tires and brakes on the 1LE are above shelby level
this is the best handling car i have ever driven!

in my opinion this 1LE is on the GT350 level for about 20k less

Over the past 25 years, I've swapped back and forth from Mustang to Camaro (and Corvette) so many times, that half the time I forget what I have in the garage. LOL.

Welcome aboard. What part of NC are you in?

I was in a 15 GT/PP for 3 years and just got my 1LE ~2 months ago...this is the better car. And I had a Grand in Steeda parts under the rear of that car, too. naggy little thing here and there from one car to the next comparison wise but 1LE is the better car in my book. The added torque is very noticeable. Best thing is the rev match I love that feature.

I have tried to buy a Mustang at least 4-5 times in my life and every time I test drive one and test drive something else to decide, I always end up with the something else. In my head, I have always been a Mustang fan and my dream car in high school was a Charcoal gray 67-68 Mustang.

Although to be fair, when I was in my early 20's I did pick up a 67' Mustang GTA with the 390 and that was fun.

Since then though...

I first tried to buy one in 97'-98' time frame, test drove it, hated the handling, test drove the Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T and went home with it.

Tried again in 2000, test drove it, hated the handling, test drove the Corvette Hardtop (pre-Z06) and drove it home.

Next time was the first year of the previous generation GT500, test drove it, handling was ok, but then test drove the a used C6 Z06, drove it home.

Tried again with the first year Boss 302 previous generation, handling was good, but you could feel all the bushing mushiness, test drove the BMW 335i, drove the BMW home.

Last time was the Shelby GT350, liked it a lot, but I didn't like that fact that it did not have rev. matching and at that time I wanted a DCT, so I got the BMW M3.

This time around I didn't't even bother to test drive the Mustang. After endlessly watching reviews and youtube videos, I went straight to the Camaro SS 1LE, although I briefly thought about the ZL1 1LE, but for a daily driver and a car that would probably almost never see a track, I had to be honest with myself and say that the SS 1LE would be enough. While I do live in CA with not too much rain and no real winter, we do still have a rainy season and I didn't want to deal with the almost slicks that come on the Zl1 1LE. The insurance and gas expenses are also cheaper on the SS 1LE.

It is also worth nothing that Camaro was NEVER on my radar history and this is the first time that I actually considered a Camaro. GM has unleashed the Camaro team and it shows that the bean counters (to which I am one) didn't run the show this time around.

Had a bunch of stangs, last stang was an 05 GT that I loved but was too problematic, drove a Crown Vic and RAV4 for about a year and then got this 18 V6 vert. Not an apples to apples comparison but I’d say in a straight line the V6 is very close to my stang, and wins in the other areas. Just wish it had leather seats like the stang. Seems to be the best compromise between power and economy for my really long daily commute.

I just converted as well. Have been a Ford guy all my adult life, 3 Mustangs, 4 F-150s, a couple of Rangers thrown in for good measure. That all changed with my 2018 Mustang GT PP2. After 3 weeks of mostly gentle break-in driving the engine grenaded. When Ford offered to either replace or buy it back, the decision was a lot easier than I would have ever thought.

Just picked up my Nightfall Gray 2SS 1LE yesterday and could not be happier.

Oh wow, you might just be in the most unique position there is. Would love to hear your thoughts on drive and handling between the two.

I had a 2015 Mustang GT PP. I had never owned a Mustang, and really liked the new body style. So, I chose it over the Gen5 Camaro.

However, since it was the first year for the S550 Mustangs, it had a slew of little gremlins that would pop up all the time. Finally, something major mechanically went wrong with the Mustang at 36,250 miles, and 3 different dealerships were giving me the run-around about "why" it couldn't be covered under warranty. I finally said enough is enough, and just wanted to be rid of it. I started to hate the car, and that really made me sad, because I really had some wonderful times with it.

By chance, my friend happened to be down in FL and needed a place to stay.
So he rented a convertible 2018 Camaro SS which he let me drive for a few days while he stayed with us, and I instantly fell in love. I knew at that point that the car was really fantastic, and then test drove a 1LE at my local dealership and was utterly blown away. I ordered my 1LE and 10 weeks later, I was in Nirvana, and haven't looked back since.

The Camaro just a better car, plain and simple.

I fell in love all over again, and damn, does it feel wonderful...lol

JD you're not alone. There are SO many YouTube videos of '18 Mustang GT's that are either having engine failures or transmission breakage.

The upgraded MT82 is even more crappier than it already was, and the "more powerful" Coyote motor is a crap shoot as to whether you get a good one or not. One guy on YouTube has his engine swapped at 3,200 miles, and the NEW engine is now giving him issues!! all I know is I'll never, ever buy another Ford again.

I had a 15 GT PP last and it had some mechanical problems, the car was a let down in my opinion. and the seats where the most uncomfortable seats i ever owned, and sat way to high in the car. the fit and finish of the car was horrible.

and i actually looked at 2 new 18 GT mustangs that both sounded like they where knocking and after reading and watching the videos on youtube of the piston slap, BBQ tick, and glass shift forks I was honestly afraid to buy one.

But this was a blessing because had the mustang not had these problems i would not have driven and feel in love with this 1LE, what a car!

Had to laugh at the stereo comment.
Good one.
