It's Top Tier (TM).

PLEASE NOTE THE TRADEMARK!!!

https://toptiergas.com/

It's a marketing exercise that some brands pay to be a part of, because people think it actually means the gas is from a top tier and not the simple marketing exercise of Top Tier.

Use the cheapest high turnover gas station you can find and forget about worrying about a trade mark on the gas

Funny, I was filling up at COSTCO yesterday, the attendant was having this conversation with the women on the other side of the fuel pump. He said that when the truck arrives, they, COSTCO add 3 and a half gallons of the top tier additives to the mix. Also said the truck also drops off at other name brand stations as they ALL in the Tucson area get their fuel from a refinery that gets their oil from the same oil pipeline from El Paso.

So, even though I was using higher priced Chevron for awhile, I will be using COSTCO and adding a bottle of Techron every fourth tank or so.

Yes, please do because there is a lot of misinformation here.

BTW, ethanol is hygroscopic. And yes, top tier does matter and no, Sam's is not top tier. That may change as Sam's cut ties to Murphy USA in 2016.

Can't comment on SAM's club but I use Costco in all my cars. I'm in northern burbs of Chicago as well. Premium at Costco last week was $3.19. Regular was $2.71.

Car runs great on it.

Sure, to the marketing departments for the oil companies that pay to be a part of the program.

It doesn't actually carry any certification. I posted a link to the site. It's a license, which the O&G companies pay to be a part of. For that reason ALONE, it "matters". To them. Not to consumers.

The list has Kwik Trip and Arco listed, and according to people who haven't yet figured out this is JUST A MARKETING EXERCISE those are somehow the same as Shell V-Power. LMFAO, c'mon sheep.. you're not that slow.

Sam's Club gas has pretty consistantly caused the check engine light to come on in my vehicles. No other ill effects other than that little light. Just to be safe I stay away from Sam's Club gas.

In an attempt to diffuse your paranoia, it was not the oil companies that came up with top tier gas standards. It was a consortium of BMW, GM, Honda and Toyota.

AAA has done independent testing of TTG and even the Society of Automotive Engineers endorse it.

“AAA was surprised to learn the extent to which detergent additives impact gasoline quality,” revealed John Nielsen, AAA’s managing director of Automotive Engineering and Repair. “As advertised, tested TOP TIER gasolines kept engines remarkably cleaner than other fuels we tested.”

https://newsroom.aaa.com/2016/07/aaa...created-equal/

While it is true that fuel never washes over the valves of a DI engine, both Ford and GM employ valve reversion schemas. In addition, injectors can clog much more quickly than you stated. Finally, many top tier gas retailers are selling fuel for about the same price as non top tier.

Burn whatever you want in your $40-50,000 muscle car but please do your own research.

Back in the days when I use to sign off on bill of lading for gas at Sams Club the one around here usually gets shipment from Valero or Magellan Midstream.
