Hey All:
I wanted to throw my opinion in about VT; feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer. After seeing Coopers posts about his experience I reached out to Brian and got a bottom line price, paid via credit card on a Friday, and had my device in-hand the following Monday. I ran some current numbers for Brian and got them to him Monday night and by Tuesday morning I had a tune in my inbox. Loaded the tune Tuesday night and ran some stock as well as tuned numbers and had a revised tune in on Wednesday morning. I asked Brian to crank up the throttle response a little and he did as well as making a few other minor adjustments. I've been running the tune since last Thursday and the log shows I'm putting down (peak) 325 hp / 348 lb-ft (HP is calculated as Cooper indicated in his build thread) I'm not bothered too much about dynos and I'm not racing the car, I just wanted something to unleash the potential I know this car has. I'm running 93 so nothing special there. I can tell you that the car now takes off from a dead stop and has passing power that it didn't have before. I may add a catted downpipe in the future and would love to hear opinions from those who have one (zzp or other) about what that does for the car in terms of power/feel Again, I'm not a racer and not bothered about 1/10ths of seconds personally - I'm coming off of an LS1 2000 FB that was putting down 357/360 at the wheels so I didn't want to feel I was going too far backwards from a power perspective. The experience with the VT tune makes the car feel "fun" again and that's what I wanted If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will give you my opinion

You kicked my butt on 93#'s haha! Very nice. I can't wait to see how some of these do in some actual cool air. This dead summer heat is murderous...

Hey man - sorry, I thought I included that but didn't. Aside from an open Injen CAI it's bone stock
If I can squeeze more power from a new catted downpipe I would go that route but I'd like to hear from some others first Any other questions, feel free to let me know! |

I have a ZZP catted pipe and I love it for three reasons
1. Lighter weight 2. Better sound 3. More power |

One question for those of you that have used VT. in email Brian has stated that he locks down the tune and therefore no one other than him will ever be able to edit it. This includes other tuners as well as the car owner themselves (for those of us who do some of our own tuning). Have any of you talked about this with him and/or discussed this as a long term concern? Any feedback?

Well, there's a lot more knowledgeable guys than me here, that's for sure and I waited nearly a year before pulling the trigger with VT; after seeing the results from some people that I follow on here my decision was made.
I put the Injen CAI in within the first month, however. It gives everything a nicer sound imo. I had an Ecoboost Mustang and put an SCT Tune on it within a few months and the car totally woke up. I was bemoaning the fact that this engine gets like ZERO support from the aftermarket handhelds and, as far as anyone can tell, it's not coming. Diablo, SCT, and others have basically written off the engine which is a total insult. Even Ford put out it's own tuner for the Ecoboost so you can tune AND keep your warranty if you like. Chevy has their heads up their backsides as far as I'm concerned on this. Sorry for the rant With the tune from VT I feel a lot better about the decision to get the 2.0T; even though it's a lot more car for the money than the Ecoboost, in my opinion, the lack of options was a bother. |

I asked Brian about that. His reply was "most of the time, I lock them" I think it goes without saying, if you use his flex fuel tune- you can pretty much bet on a lock. Being the only guy to spend the time and energy making that function properly on the LTG, I sure as heck wouldn't just hand it over. I'm fairly confident using the PCM write count protection would also be locked, (once again, who else has that?), and also because if the file is messed with in any way, it changes, and would null any protection against incremental write counts. If your not planning on using either one of those two services, I would message him with your concerns and see what he says. Super easy, nice guy to talk too, and will get straight to the point. I really don't blame anyone for trying to protect their work though, the automotive industry has become cut-throat, and guys will, without a second thought, rip off your work and laugh all the way to the bank..
