So is the V6 1LE worth getting?
I don't currently have a Camaro but I do have a modded HHR SS. I have been keeping an eye on local Camaro deals and I saw a local v6 1LE for $24 brand new and its got me thinking about selling the HHR. I have had a few people tell me I would be mad I didn't go for the SS later down the road. I have two kids too so I am trying to see if folks with the v6 1LE enjoy it or wish they had gone for the v8? I just don't like the '19 styling so thats what has me thinking about jumping on a good deal.

I think the V6 1LE is a fantastic bargain. Great looks, SS suspension and the V6 sounds great with the NPP exhaust. Plus, the car is RARE! Very few V6 1LEs out there compared to the SS 1LEs.
I would go drive it and see what you think about it. $24k is a good price! |

For a daily driver, I think the V6 might be a better choice. I have a V8 1LE and it is a beast with performance far beyond what can be used on the road. The V6 I think would be more fun day to day. You could actually use the power and rev it out, whereas the V8 is doing about 60 at the top of 1st gear. Then what? 5 more to go - I don't think so.
I had a V6 2014 Camaro RS and it was a blast, I'm sure the 6th gen V6 is even more fun!

Put it this way, road and track or motor trend forgot who, had to compare the baby brother v6 1le with the BMW M2 because they said it wasnt fair against the SS 1LE. I think that in itself really compliments the V6 version. Also mind you its also a couple hundred pounds lighter than the SS. I think 24k is a hell of a deal

At 24k that is a smokin deal. I just got out of a 19 1LE, tested an 18 1LE for a month last year as well. The V6 1LE is PLENTY fun to drive.

Right on, it’s about an hour from me so I didn’t want to drive out and be disappointed. I was looking at the V6 because of the bargain and the 1LE seems like it would be a blast to drive. I would love to drive one and see how it feels compared to the 2.0 but I hate dealerships if you go drive anything they bother you for weeks.

The V6 1LE is the performance bargain of the Century, lol.
It really is an incredibly nimble car that'll outperform pretty much anything in its class. And Chevy made sure that six has a VERY sweet exhaust note. I'd take that over ANY car in that price range, hands down!

I did notice that there was two different wheel designs for the 1LE, is that a ‘17 and ‘18 model or were there two different wheel options.

That's a smokin deal for sure. It's almost $20k cheaper than the SS version so if $43k is way more than you want to spend then I say get the V6 1LE. You'll save $20k and still have a really fun new car to drive and money left over for mods.

Get what you can comfortably afford.
I'd love to have a ZL1 but the budget didn't allow. I'm perfectly happy with the SS 1LE. Had my budget been a little tighter I would be in a V6 1LE and enjoying that just as much. Heck, if they kept the '16-'18 styling I'd rock the 4 cylinder 1LE, but that's water under the bridge now.

Had I been able to find something similar to my present car with the 1LE package I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
My current V6 is a very fun drive and would only be better with all the 1LE options. |
