Lower pulley and tune advice?

Hello there guys! So I have been thinking about getting a larger lower pulley and tune for the zl1. Nothing else is done to the car besides the borla catback. What lower pulley would you guys recommend to be used? And would it be worth it to just to lower pulley and tune? Would I see significant gains? Don't plan on doing headers or cam for a very very long time, just wanted a little more extra power without touching the headers since the car is so loud already. Let me know what you guys think! Thank you!

From what I understand when you go with a certain amount of pulley or increase in boost Headers become a must to move hot air out of the engine quickly. I'm thinking you will be limited to something like a 10% of less pulley without headers.

Just do a 2.30 upper, tune it and call it a day.

Bingo.

10% or less. 2.3 upper pulley, intake, and tune. You'll have higher than stock temps, don't plan on tracking in hot weather.

Cats are a major choke point and stop lots of flow and therefore heat/create lots of engine pressure.

Ah, okay. But the 2.3 upper and tune will net me some pretty good power? Car will most likely never be tracked so I won't have to worry about that.

Did you go that route with your car? If so, how did you like it?

But what about an 8.6 lower pulley with a tune and call it a day? I heard the lower won't cause any belt slip.

Lol sorry I had to, just a little history this guy just made 1090whp like 2 days ago.. I'd trust what he recommends as he has had just about every setup on the stock blower and now procharged.

Haha, the 2.30 was my first mod believe it or not. And no, don't trust me. I spent about $8k building the shit blower that comes on the lt4. Now, I did sell it to Joel and he's enjoying it on his SS, but I had to go Pro Charger knowing all the heat that is produced by the top mounts. Then again, I have 1500 hp goals and a Whip ain't gonna do it.

But, for what the OP wants, just do a 2.30, tune it and enjoy the extra oomph.

Do not over spin the factory blower. Kttx can attest to that. Putting any pulley in the 1740 blower is actually over spinning it but over-over spinning it is just going to create an unreliable, timing pulling, heat pump. Which is not what you want. Just stick with something like a 2.3 or 8.6 which is 8%-9% (10% on the old ZL1 LSA).

Yeah a shop that I was talking to recommended the 8.6 lower and he said about 30-40 whp with the tune. Might go that route. Just a lot of damn money for 30-40 hp so I guess I'll see.

The upper pulley is cheap and should produce about the same amount of HP so. Just leave the lower pulley stock. You'll be fine. I actually might have my lower pulley still from my old build. Let me check and i'll let you know.
