Doesnt mean I need to be dodging in and out of traffic...but there is a HUGE difference in the way my 6th Gen SS handles rain than any of my previous cars...I thought my 4th Gen was bad, but the 6th Gen SS takes the cake in this department. Not bashing the car..but I am pointing out, it has an obvious weakness in this area. |

I always thought mine handled pretty good in rain and dry. Just undrivable in snow.

When I first got my 2SS, I had to drive back to the dealer with a friend to pick my 99 Z28 up from the parking lot -- all day prior to me driving back, sunny and blue skies, birds singing, dolphins flipping and God smiling as I finally got my dream car, a brand new fully loaded 2SS -- ...Satan wasn't happy... Just out of nowhere while I was on the Interstate a storm brewed in, got windy and them it just rained like a giant firehydrant exploded over the earth, couldnt see a foot infront of me...I slowed down to 50 in a 70... wasn't enough... my day was almost ruined by my brand new 2SS going from the right lane straight into the median - barely corrected it... freeway was completely flooded though... and it happened FAST. |

Why does everybody have problems in the rain? I got the Goodyear tires that came on the car 4,000 miles on them last week drove on the interstate 65mph in heavy rain not a flood on the road but heavy rain I didn’t slide or anything . Unless you guys are driving on the streets with a small river on it.

The 1LT has no issues in the rain whatsoever...I owned one and it will run circles around my SS on wet road conditions. |

When it rains for the first time on dry roads, it gets extra slippery. Until the rain washes the dirt and oil away. Slow down.
I drive on 13k mile goodyear oem tires in south Florida rain everyday. They are fine. I tend to do 60-70 in the rain, on the highways. No issues. |

The stock ZL1 tires are great for the track or warm street cruising, but they will try to kill you in rain. Mine got loose in a light rain while cruising at a steady 40mph with no standing water.
I have MPSS on my daily driver and will be putting them or MPS4S on when the time comes. |

This space was almost left intentionally blank.
A lot of us older guys learned to drive performance cars in a totally analog mode without nannies or performance modes. There were no participation trophies then.., You earned it. My suggestion is to adjust your driving behavior based on the existing conditions. Don't blame it on the car or the tires. You are the monkey turning the crank. Understand the available power and conditions. Take responsibility for your actions. With that said, I have operated a C6 Vette ZR1 on MSC2s on street and track. Wet and dry. Though I have not experienced GY E SC3s, their 3Rs are the most amazing rubber that I have ever experienced. However, looking at their tread pattern and profile, I would not expect them to perform in wet conditions. If I got caught in the rain, I would adjust my driving accordingly. For what it's worth, I doubt that I would ever switch to the available snow/rain nannies. I'm a grown man and experienced driver... I can handle it. No disrespect intended, just saying.

Last week I drove from VA to SC, roughly 450 miles one way. Forecast was storms and heavy down pours the whole way. First heavy down pour on I95 going below speed limit I felt hydroplaning so I got off next exit and dropped tire pressure from 37 to 31. This totally eliminated any hydroplaning feeling I had for the next 400 miles which was in and out of heavy down pours. This was on 2.5 year old OEM Goodyear’s in good condition and about 12k miles on them.
Unfortunately this was the first time my car been driven in the rain... |

I know the differences between all-seasons and summer only and what each are capable of. I'm assuming you do to. My point was, most don't care so much and would rather have a good tire for all conditions, rather than a great tire for just one condition. No reason to scratch your head too hard over that.

Made it home last night during a sometimes massive downpour, while driving the beautiful mountains of Northwest Arkansas. Decreased speed to 48 - 54 and was good to go. Not one feeling of “controlled hydroplaning”, even though big rigs and non-performance car slapped me with wind and rain as they zipped by (70 mph speed limit).... they just wait until it drys, then we’ll see whose fast.
