This is all great information thanks all for posting. I copied and will print some of the information to bring to the dealer. I hope the dealer doesn't flush again and I have to go back a third time to get the converter replaced. It's a waste of time.

Regarding my car, the shudder has gotten much worse as I continue to drive it. The transmission jerks slightly or slips- it feels like one shudder every few seconds as the tach needle jumps up and down. Then as it warms up more the big multiple shudder (Like a rumble strip) comes every few seconds shaking the entire car. It started at about 1500 miles, brought it in at 2500 for the first flush, now it is at 5700.

I'm going to stop driving it after today and have to take out the turtle Fiesta tomorrow and this weekend. I'll go car shopping and pick something out in the mean time as a back up plan. I was looking for something anyway to replace the Fiesta and didn't want to trade the Camaro but will trade both if I need to.

what's interesting is that the 6 cyl and 8 cyl apparently have 2 different converters, both exhibiting the same problems. I assumed this but didn't know for sure. So the slip tables may be playing more of a roll in bad torque converters than we initially thought
Yep, the turbo and the V6 have the 8L45 and the Silverado, Corvette, And SS have the 8L90.

Demand that you want the TC changed. Or find another dealership.

makes sense. I figured it was something like that but I just never took the time to research it, what with the being tangled all up in my own having the issue.

Completely understand! GM needs to make it an official recall. I find it ridiculous that 3 or 4 years after the transmission has been out and people are still having issues.

I agree. from who I've talked to (numerous folks involved in the repair and building of transmissions and torque converters) is that the stock unit should be fine (other than the paper friction surfaces) if the slip tables are zeroed out not to allow any slip. My fears were all but confirmed when I had 2 tc manufacturers basically say that if you even swap out for a stock rebuilt unit from them (better friction material), that the "new" tc will hold better, but wouldn't last any longer than stock. They basically couldn't promise that their tc would fix the problem completely.

several of them have also mentioned that once the shuddering starts, there's a good chance the damage is done, and anything other than replacing the tc is, at best, a bandaid.

Now, GM can fix this issue. They have the ability to redo the slip tables, and give you a new tc if you are experiencing the issue. Obviously, the hurdle is money and time.

I'm not sure if they did anything to my slip tables, but I will tell you, once I got my car back with the new tc, it shifts better than it did, even new. After 2k miles with it, it's still just the way it was when I picked it up after the repair. The shifts are more crisp. It's like the transmission is more confident in getting into gear.

Update: Service yesterday confirmed without a doubt that I need a new torque converter. There are 4 ahead of me with the exact same issue so it's going to take a at least a week before they can get to my car. This problem is very big out there.

It's good that they are going ahead with the TC. Mine did close to the same. I had the issue, they triple flushed it. it came back within about 2k. they opted for another triple flush. This time it never cleared out or went away. even within 600 miles. the next trip got me a new tc.

knock on wood, It's good now. As far as I can tell, I got the new tc, and the new fluid (which I should have had from the factory, according to my build date).

It's been almost 3k and an oil change since the new tc, and so far so good.

Good news on the TC change. I hope mine is good after the change out too. I have to be without the car a week and a half though. Good thing I got the Fiesta ST as a second car.

Update - I will post this on the other strings as well. I brought the car to another dealer. They test drove and told me nothing was wrong with the transmission. Guy said he had 40 years experience etc. I was so tired of dealing with this i just gave up. He said he would try to balance the tires and see if it helped. I explained to friends that it must be me being hyper sensitive... The following day the same guy from the dealership calls me and says he was able to duplicate the problem and was ordering the new TC. I am hopeful that this is the end of my troubles with this car. Good Luck to all. Be persistent.

Mine is at the shop..

.. At this very moment. They told me they are doing a flush. Car has 20k on it and I just bought it a month ago (2016 used) . I'm guessing I'll be back again soon for the TC replacement. Will post updates as it goes FYI.

The tech working on mine never bothered to look at the work history on my vehicle and my adviser was trying to tell me the tech's plan of action was to triple flush my trans.

I noted it was done at 1400 miles and has returned and was told at that time if the problem returns to bring it in for a new converter.

Now they are ordering a new converter and supposed to back with me today on an ETA for it to be completed.
