Price for used SS 1LE

Hi guys,

I'm actually considering switching to an 1SS LE from my 2018 Mustang GT PP1....
I had a 2017 Camaro 2.0 Turbo for 10 month before I bought the Mustang late december.
I bought the Mustang because I wanted this new dual injection Coyote, and some more practicality.....Few months after the hype is gone, the car is great but I can't forget the 1LE which I love...
This would be a daily driver like the Mustang...Less pratical and less visibility but hell, this is not too bad...

The main issue is to find a way to minimize at max my loss of money if I switch....I'm not opposed at buying used (10-20 000 miles wouldn't be an issue for me) and I think this would be the only way to have a financially correct switch...New these things are expensive, unless they sell way below sticker....45-46K sticker for what I saw...

The second issue is that I have a FBO 2017 Corvette C7 GrandSport, this would mean two LT1 at home.....

What do you think ?

From what us SS 1LE folks have been led to believe, it's the same car as the GrandSport, albeit a bit heavier and slower. Are you considering the SS 1LE just because of the rear seats?

Keep the Mustang and vette. Mustang is a better daily driver. If you didnt have the GS, it would be a no brainer but since you do, I wouldn't blow the money (loss on mustang) on a 1LE DD.

Tires don't last long and are expensive for the 1LE. Plus, in cold weather, forget it. Would need less aggressive tires, but then you lose some of the awesome handling which is what the 1LE is all about. Visibility isnt as bad as people say. Big blind spots, but use your mirrors. Mustang does have better vis though.

As for price, you can get them new for under 40k. I bought my 2018 1SS 1LE back in October with PDR for 41.5k out the door.

I really wanted a Grand Sport, but after driving one and a 1LE, the extra 20 grand wasnt worth it to me. The 1LE is fantastic! Plus, I can bring my wife an 6 yr old along for drives thanks to the kiddie seats.

It's not my DD. Honestly, for a DD, I would have chosen a Mustang GT PP1 or a Challenger 392 TA (super comfy lol).

Totally different chassis, but very similar driving characteristics. It's essentially the Camaro version of a GS. Aggressive appearance, significant handling improvements, bigger brakes, some added goodies like suede interior bits, eLSD, but with the standard SS engine and trans.

I was with you until you said you had a grand sport.
The Mustang is a better daily driver than the Camaro 1LE, for sure.

There is also another factor to take in account...reliability...
2018 Mustang GT has plenty of issues...gearbox, engines rattles, blown engines...I’m not very confident for the future....

Mine is pretty less trouble free albeit some small noises, but still what we see is not very reassuring...

Has far as daily driver I told in my first post that I had a 2017 Camaro, so I know already how is practicality and visibility on the car, it is not a big deal for me.

Reliability is subjective. Seems a lot of cars have issues lately. There have been some blown LT1s and GM is changing oil viscosity recommendations from 5W30 to 0W40 maybe to help prevent bearing wear. Also, we have rattles and trim issues. There are quite a few of us who have rear bumper covers that poke out at the corners when hot from the sun, etc.

You dont seem to care too much about loss of $$ on trades changing cars every year, but not sure you'll be that much happier with a 1LE as a DD over a GT PP1.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Do it!

If you look enough you should be able to find new for about $40k before taxes.

I'm fully aware of LT1 potential issues as I have a C7 (valve springs, spun crankshaft bearings), that is bolts on and that I'm tuning myself with HP tuners...But issues are far less common than gen 3 Coyote and MT82-4 Gearbox...Look at Youtube and Mustang6 forum...This is really bad in only 6-8 month.... Even replaced engines have same issues... I think on 6 "big" youtubers, 5 had/have issues...

I find this concerning.

And I don't like loosing money like everyone...I'm just thinking I could loose less by switching to a Camaro if there is a big debacle with 2018 Mustang and no one wants to buy them anymore....

I'm daily driving my 1LE right now and I have no complaints. I have some Nitto's mounted to 1LE replica wheels ready to go when I wear out the stock tires. I didn't buy the car to track it. I bought it to DD during the better weather months. I think it makes a great DD. You can get a lightly used 17 1SS 1LE for about $35k. It's a great value for the performance.
