Used ZL1 1LE modded? Back to stock?

Hi everyone, first-post but been lurking for a while!

I've been shopping for a new or used 2018 ZL1 1LE for nearly a month now waiting for the right deal. Found a ZL1 1LE nearby that has the options and a color I like, is used and a great price. It's obviously had some pride in ownership as it has nearly 9k miles but the engine bay is spotless, it has paint protection, etc. Interesting to me though is that when looking under the hood it had MSD plug wires with heat shields and an "HD" green pulley belt. Everything else appears stock, including the headers, supercharger and intake. This leads me to believe that it may have been modded then put back to stock for sale. Should I be concerned? Obviously I am, otherwise wouldn't be writing this. It drives great, I didn't notice any issues and I checked the warranty and don't see any red flags. I'm not planning to mod myself so would like the warranty intact. Am I missing anything else I should check or consider? It's not at a chevy dealer. Is there a way to know if it's been tuned?

Thanks!

What are they asking for it? I’d walk unless it’s an insane deal.

Take it to a dealer and pay them $100 or so to check the ECU for tunes.

Only way to know is to ask dealer to see if its been flashed...

You can just buy new, use a dealer that has a reputation for selling a lot of camaros and vettes. For instance Grapevine Tx Classic Chev. A guy posted here locally in Houston that His best deal was Sticker 73,XXX with Loyalty of 1k and rebate of 1k. I sent him to Eric Hall at Classic he sent me a message saying I saved him 9k.. and he really appreciated it.

Dealers that sell high volume like classic can offer certificates or coupons I got 6k in coupons ( this is like cash back the dealer is awarded for selling so many cars) The best trick a salesman says is that " we all have the same invoiced cars and rebates they cant beat our price".. Wrong! Its definitely semi true statement the car with same options do have the same price.. but the amount of discounts that dealer can offer is sometimes a huge difference..

You can all ways Haggle to.. go to Cargurus or Autotrader (desk top mobile sucks) You will notice that there are 3 or 4 dealers that are really low.. Bomnin out of Fla, One in Oklahoma, and the other I think is in Illinois..

Tell them you have your financing in hand credit union or cash and Ask for a Buyers invoice.. let them know all the rebates you qualify for (should be a list when you click on the car when it directs you to the add or a sales guy will ask) They will email this quote print and take to local dealer to negotiate if they try that BS that its in another state say you have ck pricing Southwest or spirit airline is only 150 for summer fairs.

I only saved 1500 but I did so much haggling and researching before i spoke to eric at classic.. I didn't even have to Haggle with that dealer the price was cheaper by 1500 out of the 50 or so I called all over the US and haggled with.

mention me please yellow zl1.. I have sent about 5 people there and all have bought and thanked me tremendously.

If I took it to a chevy dealer pre-purchase and it WAS tuned/flashed then I'm assuming they may flag? it then and there which would seem sort of rude for the next owner or dealership..and the dealership has been great to deal with. I will probably just move on. I've never found a price so far less than about 67k OTD (everything besides tax). I qualified (if it's still available) for just the 2k select nameplate and 1k market bonus and am a cash buyer.

also, thanks for this ^. That's new to me. I've been haggling left and right trying to get down around 64.5k OTD (no tax) on a new black or grey one.

^ welcome^

same holds true with a dealers parts department.. A lot dealers mostly from there online sales department sale at cost because of the million plus kick back ck they receive from gm.. If they sale at cost break even then sale so much volume they are awarded this kick back ck the parts depart made well a million in revenue..

!
I haven't seen anyone use the green belt on a stock pulley. I bet it has a smaller pulley and tune with colder plugs.

Solid assumption that they'd void the warranty with smaller pulley and a tune? Just thinking. It's not necessarily bad for me that it's modded except regarding the warranty.

Just be upfront with the selling dealer.
Ask them if its OK for you have a GM Dealer check the cars computer for any warranty flags.

They probably already know the answer anyway.

Do not buy it unless you have a GM dealership scan it for tunes. If they find that it has not been tuned and if there is evidence of a smaller pulley, then do not buy it. Because that means it was pullied and not tuned. Although some people say this is fine, it isn't their $61K that you're spending. If it was not pullied and was not tuned, then have the GM dealership show this in a print out and/or express that in writing so you have their word. And then make sure you go over that warranty like you're signing a contract with the Devil. Only then would I feel comfortable with that car. If anything is out of whack then walk.

Good deal, but not insane if not really well known from a mod perspective. It's a good deal but I'd want to be 100% sure.

For the record, I paid $61k for mine with 900 miles and was never titled or modified in any way (bought from a dealer and I am the first and only owner).

That's definitely an insane deal! Do you know if they treated it well and followed break-in for those 900 untitled miles?

Thanks everyone, I've decided to just move on and wait for a 1LE with less questions.
