There’s lots of ways to get better performance but also cost a lot more. For new camaro 1SS at low $ 30K and its not hard to find 5.0 Mustang for 30k new. i dont think i can find much “fun and reliable” than V8 (with manual)at that price anymore.

I’ll never own anything without a true 3 pedal manual transmission so that eliminates a hybrid anything for me.

Although I think the first Honda Insight from the late 90s was a hybrid manual.

I wouldn’t buy a camaro without a v8. I know everyone is different and has their opinions. Great thing about America is for now I can spend my money how I want. I’ve been in work trucks for the last 20 years but grew up on v8’s. If a sports car company wants my money they better put a v8 in it. When the v8 goes away I’ll stop with the one I have at the time.

2022 Camaro gets Corvette engines as always.

Might launch with revised LT1 - 500hp

Main entry - 5.5L DOHC NA 600hp

Later ZL1 or Z28 5.5L DOHC TT 800hp

Unless GM goes "ford" on us and cancels most cars except Corvette.

Probably because such an engine wouldn't make as much torque down load and the area below the curve is what makes a car fast. When the NA HP starts getting real high, the low-end will start to suck more and more. Turbo 6 with full torque available at say 1500-1700 will be faster in most cases.

Internal combustion for me. Certain vehicles requires certain engine types. American muscle, like the Camaro, should have a V8. A Buick GNX should only have a turbo V6 IMO. I know they already do, but I'm talking about the rumored reissue.
If I ever hit the lottery, the Ferrari I get will have a V12.

Basically that's the Corvette C8 (Jan. debut)

Modded LT1 at launch to keep it lower priced: 500hp

5.5L DOHC NA 600hp

5.5L DOHC TT 800hp

5.5L DOHC TT 800hp plus 200hp front wheel electric assist - 1000hp

2022 Camaro gets Corvette engines as always. Unless SUV's kill more cars.

As far as the feel goes, I’d just as soon have less weight up front all other things being equal.

Your airplane probably runs at about 2500 RPM, I suspect. That would probably have a big effect on the sound.

I’ve bought 6 and 8 powered Camaros & Firebirds over the years. It really depends what the market looks like at that point and what’s available, assuming I’m looking to buy new. There will be plenty of used V8 cars on used car lots for the foreseeable future.
