V6 1LE hub size and strut clearance

I believe my V6 1LE has a version of the standard SS FE3 suspension. How does that strut compare to the MRC strut in the SS 1LE for wheel fit and clearance? I've received helpful information about fit for 18x10 and 18x10.5 wheels for the SS 1LE, and I need to figure out if the same info applies to my V6 1LE.

Also, is the hub size the same, 66.9mm?

Second, would also love to know this information. Right now my leading choice is 19x10 ET25 square, but would love to know if an 18 is possible.

I've been told that the hub size is the same.

From what I've read and been told, it appears that a little grinding on the "knuckle" is necessary to create clearance for a wide 18" rim.

I am also interested in the 19x10 Apex ET25. My reason for probably going 19 over 18 isn't to avoid grinding, it's that I don't want to change the gearing too much.

I will probably add TPM sensors, since I'll probably run 200TW tires at the track, which I can change at home ... all tracks are a long way from San Diego. At least I just found out that our only autocross venue will be around a couple more years.

I just ordered the 19x10 et25 apex EC-7's. But the 19x10 et25 thing has been done multiple times on base SS's and SS 1LE's so I'm not expecting any surprises. I have 5mm spacers on order because it's tight on clearance depending on alignment. This thread should have very good first hand information about fitment on V6 1LE's soon.

I also missed the original question about hub clearance. I have not read of any difference in the hubs between the cars. The center bore on the camaro is slightly smaller than the BMW bore that Apex puts on their wheels. Camaro = 66.9mm BMW = 72.56mm. These hub centric rings help if you want the wheels to center a bit easier, although they are not strictly needed as the lugs should center the wheel without any problem. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I may have to order some of those. I couldn't find those for what ever reason, ended up ordering some 72.6mm OD to 67.1mm ID. My wheels showed up today hopefully get a test fit tomorrow.

So the strut bottoms on the V6 1LE(possible all non mag ride cars) are a lot smaller than the mag ride units. I have an 18x10 et25 wheel and it fit/spun freely without any grinding or spacers. But once a tire is on looks like you would need to grind just a little for tire clearance.

My camber is maxed at -1.8 and this is the clearance with a 5mm spacer(sorry no pic without spacer) The yellow circle is where i intend to grind.

You have plenty of clearance there. I wouldn't bother grinding.

Agreed. Looks like more clearance than a stock SS 1LE.

Okay, so I have a couple more pictures for everyone. The first is the Apex EC-7 19x10 et25 with a 5mm spacer. Fit was comfortable and I would be 100% fine running this. Unfortunately, I am not comfortable tracking with 4.5 turns on the lugs. That's all I could get. (This photo is taken from in front of the strut, sorry)

The second photo below is the same wheel without the 5mm spacer. The clearance is much tighter, but the nuts get a full 8 spins so this is my only real option unless I get longer studs.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the car is set up at as close to -2 camber as the local dealership could get, I believe the front left value was -1.9.

Get some extended reach / long shank lug nuts. They have a deeper collar and will get you some extra turns on the stud.

Looking at what that entails, I think there is a really low chance that I would trust that on a set of wheels that will only see track use. High loads + smaller mating surface between the nut and the wheel = potential problems. I'd rather just do it the right way and get longer studs.

Also, for comparison's sake, here is another photo showing the wheels without the spacer and my finger for comparison, like in the first photo with the spacer on.

I decided to get 18x10" Apex FL-5 wheels ... only 20.5# and I decided that price and selection of 18" tires was better. Tire Rack had a good price on some 275/40/18 200 TW tires, the Nexen N FERA SUR4G for only $164. The Hankook R-S4 seems to be out of stock in that size until the next container of them arrives from Korea.

With stock alignment, there is very little room between the wheel and the strut. I have a set of 5mm spacers, but reading how few turns people get with them, I am reluctant to use them.

I made some initial searches for longer lugs, but didn't find anything that I had confidence in. I'm eager to hear about other people's solutions...

I researched camber plates and determined there is nothing FS right now, and Vorshlag informed me that the 6th gen strut housing and spring design doesn't allow for a camber plate. So, I'm left looking for a spacer & lug/nut solution. Maybe I'll need to get a bigger bolt-on spacer and deal with some poke?
