I think you're a little high on the price.

Figure the GT500 will have a 5.2L Coyote variant, but not the FPC VooDoo oil drinker..so the price in terms of the engine will be a wash at say..$18,000-$20,000.

So let's take a GT350R which arguably will have more expensive things on it that the GT500 won't..like the carbon fiber composite wheels and instead go with lightweight forged units. So again..price washes out there.

Throw in some comfort bits the GT350's don't have, and an automatic option (either DCT or the A10) and I'd say, realistically, you're looking at a $70,000 GT500 on the upper end, maybe $75,000 loaded to the gills.

Not cheap for a Mustang, but also I don't think FoMoCo is willing to touch the 100K barrier yet with the Mustang, just like GM isn't with the Camaro.

Quite the opposite. Its more like rooting for your mentally challenged cousin to get a win because he has f**ked up everything he's touched for so long that you feel sorry for him.

Agreed, just like Blaq mentioned it should be a 70-75K car. With ADMs I think most early sales will be $90-$100K. The suckers who have to have it.

I've said I think the Camaro is a great car enough times, but this is a Vs forum and a Mustang Vs Camaro thread so dont expect me to shout out "I love the Camaro" like i have Tourettes in here.

What's funny is there's a dealership in the southern part of Oregon that was blessed to get three Z/28's right at the outset when they returned, two white and one black. They sold the first one to a sucker who just HAD TO HAVE the Z/28 and paid $35,000 over sticker.

So what did they do?

They marked the other two up $40,000 because hey..what goes for one might go for two!

They sat on the dealership floor for nearly two years because they wouldn't budge. They eventually had to sell them for $5,000 under MSRP to clear the floor.

It makes me happy when dealer greed backfires .

but it didn't backfire they made somewhere around $40k on the 1st car and probably lost nothing on the other 2.

They did lose money due to them occupying floor space for a year and a half.

Where in the world did this tread go. To recap. The 2018 mustang is Fast. The 2018 Camaro is fast. The mustang consistently has a higher mph stock. I see mostly 115-117 on Camaros and 117-119 on mustangs. Stang is definitely making good power for a heavier car. Once modding starts it seems that the Camaro needs a few more bolt ons to go as fast but is still faster with what all is available to it(converter, intake, ported msd, ported TB, headers, E85,Drag pack) these mods put the Camaro in the high 10's and ive seen the mustang get close with just intake,headers,tune,E85, drag pack. Once we switch to FI, the mustang flat smokes our asses with the gen 3 coyote. You almost have to turn them down to keep them out of the 650-700 whp range with just a bolt on supercharger, fuel injectors and a fuel pump booster. No worrying about LT4 injectors, Lt4 high pressure pump, LT4 in tank pump, and then worrying about piston rings popping on top of that. In the looks department the new mustang is pretty damn ugly up front but has since been trumped by the new 2019 Camaro refresh front end. If staying na, the 16-18 Camaro will still win out because when its all said and done a cam swap/ported heads will keep it superior over most any 18+ mustang GT. If you are a big FI person, its hard to argue what the new coyote can do with minimal mods.

Very good summary. Thanks for getting this back on track (no pun intended). Hope it sticks.

You talk soo much shit that you can't even keep it together at this point, lol!! As already mentioned, I said multiple times before that I would like to buy a GT500 when it comes out. And I've been a member over on SVT for a while now. Several years to be exact. I joined up over there way back when I had 2 Mark VIIIs. Again, how do your words taste?

If having me pegged means going back and repeating things I said months ago then yea you sure have me pegged alright. Fact is you talked out your ass, tried to call me out on something, and got checked. And all you can fall back on is "when the GT500 comes out"...yet it got pushed back soo far that it might even be a 2020 release and the entire S550 might be here until 2022. By that time it will have been gone for 5 MYs. So yea "when the GT500 gets here" Ford will have had years to benchmark all the competition.

Side note, I wonder how steamed you Mustang guys would be to see me in a new GT500!! Haha! I should get one and beat the piss outta it and drive it to the edge of oblivion and turn it in on it's last few breaths right before the warranty is up!! That would be funny!!

I'd be steamed if you bought one and drove it like you drive your other cars.
