I saw the thread title "Why do people do this?" and saw the pic of a vert left with the top down and thought it was about that. I don't understand why people would do that. I've never owned one so don't know if that is normal but I wouldn't get a few feet from it with the top down. When I drove a truck, it seems many people thought it was a large trash can. Found bottles, cans, food wrappers, etc. Wouldn't risk that with a vert.
