Not counting track racing.. most encounters on the street are from a roll.. the zl1 wins everytime. that's also street tire to street tire so if you ran a slick on the zl1 maybe you would win there to. I remember that video they do every year top 10 fastest cars the GTR was 1st or second every time but last 4 or 5 years it probably doesn't even get into the match.. Of course that race means nothing they chose a ZL1 1le to run in that race that's wrong car to use in that race lol. I know for 2 grand counting the tune you can add 100 hp easy to the ZL1.. I'm sure the GTR can run a different springs in the gates and go e85 but its down 100 hp and 200lbs of TQ. I think the GTR is slow on a roll race.. my friends car built by Jrod a 14 1le SS with night furry cam, CAI intake, 2 inch headers, and TB w my big ass pulled one pretty easy but it did the same thing on a Audi A10 as well that cam worked great w factory 3.91 gears.. it had an advantage on my 2010 SS with eforce until we got in the 130 mph range to then i started to catch up and over take. I'd probably call a shop that does GTR performance work and see what it cost to mod them.. there are a few in Houston like Serious HP if its way crazy that might be a factor. There's all ways the exhaust factor to Rice or V8 lol!

GTRs have been on fire sale from dealers for a decade. Old, expensive platform--and a v-6!

Somewhat apples and oranges if you compare a ZL1 and GTR. Both are larger performance coupes. But from what I know, the ZL1 is more of a driver's car than the 'go super fast in straight line' GTR. Not a knock on the GTR, as I considered getting into one.
For me, the ZL1 seems like its a great weekend car, glorious big American V8 with fantastic soundtrack, has 'rear seats,' and can be taken to the track, sans the Porsche price tag. Best of luck |

Not close. The '18 Zl1. Everyone knows I'm in the market for a GTR, but it's an '18. Don't buy a 14-15. Tech is outdated. I'd go with the Zl1..........ALL DAY.

IMO it's pretty simple...
If you're after a highway/strip/1/2 mile/1 mile etc. monster and you're going to modify, then get a GTR. Not that the LT4 platform isn't great for modifying because it is, it just needs a blower swap for serious gains. But the AWD advantage is a killer on the streets and at the strip. I have 3 buddies with GTRs. One is an Alpha with over 1000 AWHP and it's ridiculous. And the other two are both BoostLogic 750X cars, basically full bolt on/E85/Turbo upgrade, it's a $7500 package. Both cars put down 650-700 AWHP and run R888s all around. Let me tell you, those suckers SCREAM. They both consistently do sub 2.7 second 0-60s and they do it one after another. Both of them will make a ZL1/Z06 look like an old Lincoln from a dig and even from a roll, you'd better have the same or more power and be doing a 60 roll or higher because if the traction control comes on at all or you spin, it's over, you'll be watching GTR taillights until 140 MPH where I've seen Corvettes with similar RWHP over take them. Also, the transmission in the GTR, while fragile in stock form for launch control, is superior to any torque converter automatic for the instant paddle response. If you're leaving them in auto and daily driving them, the torque converter A10 is superior. But in any performance situation, a DCT rules IMO. The Alpha platform Camaro ZL1 is a better handling car, as is a C7 Z06 or ZR1. Also the tech and design will be superior in the ZL1. It's a tossup for me. If given between the choice and both cars being stock, I'd take a ZL1. But if I was going to spend more than a few grand in mods, I'd get a GTR if I was you. I personally can't ever buy one because I just can't buy a foreign car, I'm brand loyal to Chevy to a fault. |

I had the pleasure to drive my friends '15 GTR last year at the jack Maxton car show in Columbus and my first thought was that the GTR is slightly uncomfortable.
boy can it hustle and looks absolutely incredible but depending on what kind of use you plan to get out of it, I would daily drive a zl1 before a GTR. you don't see as many GTRs as you do zl1s, funny because I saw two GTRs at my work yesterday. either way I think you will be more than happy with what you choose! |

For the record, I miss my '15 GTR, but compared to the '18's. Night and day. I still like the Zl1 tho. I'd even put it above my '16 Z06. It's love hate with cars anyways. There's always someone that's gonna out do you no matter what. So, just buy what you want, do what you do and enjoy.

I'd never buy a 17/18 GTR. They lost the R after 15.
Softer suspension for the street, fake engine sounds, paddles on wheel = No thank you..not a true GTR in my book. The 2009-2015 is what you want to get if performance is your goal. (I have a FBO 2009 GT-R with only 15k for $56k HMU) |

I could type for hours having owned both.
But I will keep it short. Both cars are nice, but I am pleased I went with the ZL-1 instead of another GTR. I had a new 2014 BE GTR with FBO and E85 etc. The GTR had a leg up in cool factor and the AWD. The DCT transmission was more fun to shift even though my A10 prolly shifts faster. That's about it. Its just getting long in the tooth vs the ZL1. ![]()

I'd think long and hard about that if I owned a newer Camaro because they have alot of dash in them. The GTR is a nice car and does perform well. I bet their dash doesn't crack either.

![]() A buddy of mine felt the same way regarding the GT-R, bought one.. sold it, got something else.. sold it.. bought ANOTHER GT-R... then got bored again and no drives an NSX. I seem to hear A LOT of people saying that the GT-R gets boring because it feels like ur playing a video game driving a fast car, as opposed to the way the GT-350 or ZL1 allows you more control of the car.
