Well the difference is I don't know if Kia SAE certifies their motors...

The big three do.

Hyundai did on a few back in '13, but I see no KIA.

Example:

0 elevation
31 in Hg barometric pressure
0% humidity
60*F

equals -1149 DA

0 Elevation
29 in HG
95% humidity
60*F

equals 1350 DA

same elevation, 2500 difference in DA, but you will get the SAME IAT's.

again... try playing around with a DA calculator... you might learn a thing or two.
The major ingredient in DA changes is temp. 80 degree day (High DA) higher IAT's measured in a NA engine intake track before the throttle body. 60 degree day (lower DA) lower IAT's measured in the same NA intake track. Late supercharged cars (GM), have IAT1 and IAT2, 2 being after the supercharger probably wouldn't register a lower IAT2 temp on a 20 degree ambient air temp swing. I agree I could always learn more, and the basics that I do somewhat understand have treated me well.

The post said its verified the Kia puts down rwhp that equals factory rated horsepower which is crank horsepower. If the kia dyno's 355 hp at the wheel , that's around 410 at the crank. No GM, Ford, or dodge dyno the same Factory HP rating at the rear wheels. That would indicate the hypo Kia is underated.

In the traffic light drags, especially on cool damp mornings, I could get a good enough jump on most Camaro SSs and Mustang GTs and a lot of other 2wd vehicles in my TL SH-AWD 6MT to get ahead of them to change into their lane. Of course, 9 times out of 10, they'd change lanes and keep their pedal down to way above the posted speed limit to prove their car's superiority over mine.

This whole thread reminds me of a late 1970s or early 1980s commercial I saw when the AWD AMC Eagle first came out with advertisement narrative stating things like.."out corners Trans Am on loose gravel".

If I want an AWD 5-door that can beat pony cars off the line, I'll buy a Stinger. If I want a 2-door pony car with useless back seat, I'll buy a Mustang or Camaro.

BTW, I bought a Mustang GT PP1 6MT in May...not because it "beats" anything at a track, the commute, or the drag strip, but because I decided it would be the most enjoyable car for me in my daily commute...ie, it "beat" all my other choices in May for the attributes that mattered to me...V8 sound, availability of a 6MT, comfort, ergonomics, exterior color availability (I liked that Royal Crimson a lot), gauge package, availability of a 6MT etc. etc...Until I drove the '18 Mustang, I was planning on the Camaro 2SS...but the improvements in ride/handling/shifter-clutch feel, the fact it got heated wheel finally, on top of it's ergo put it over the top. One day I might regret my choice if I get T-boned and get my arm broken in several places, but right now, I like having the option of resting my elbow on the door sill when I drive without it needing to be above my ear level...

You made a good choice, but unfortunately the Camaro is a better car.

A corolla can get a jump on a Camaro SS or Mustang GT if they are not racing. If the Camaro or Mustang drivers don't want you to get in front of them, you won't in your Acura TL, AWD or not.

Fake News...If you can't get traction you will lose. Doesn't mean Kia is powerful just means the power it has it can be put to the ground using 4 wheels instead of 2. Its like me racing a Honda Civic in the rain meaning I'm not going anywhere fast if I can't get traction. And damn its ugly.

Look, let's face it, the Stinger GT is a kickass car and will probably take an SS from a light as well, but not as badly as the Mustang GT IMO. The SS has the low end torque to better compete. On the track, the SS would have done better than the Mustang GT as well.

Looks like Kia is doing a great job. They build a four door family sedan and it makes two door sport/muscle car guys argue over it. I would say job well done. I do however believe sales won't reflect their achievement. People dont want cars these day ,and a $45,000 Kia would be way down most people's car list anyhow.

there is a full second difference between the ET of both..... so I would disagree with you
1 second difference in ET? Huh? They run neck in neck. Both cars are mid-low 12’s

LOL silly article. Both cars are faster than that. But yes a manual Mustang driver can struggle to get into the 12s, same as the Camaro SS.

I ran a stock Kia Stinger AWD at Atco in good air when I was testing how to launch my ZL1. Obviously I needed more seat time. The Stinger is no joke.

GMHTP ran 11.9 with theirs. Several private owners ran 11s. I think 11.7 is the stock record. With a manual. If it had a new auto it would be a mid 11 car in good conditions.

It's a consistent low 12-second car, even the article you posted says so. They only touched 11 once

12.29
12.16
12.03
12.21
11.97
12.10
