1LE hood wrap - change from matte black to satin? - Page 3

Got a quote from the one of the leading auto customization places in CT. They specialize in PPF and coatings, vehicle wraps, detailing, tints, etc. and have a bunch of photos on their website showing exotic cars that they have customized.

Their quote was:

Vinyl Wrap
Hood Vinyl Removed
Hood Vinyl applied using 3M Satin S12
$625.00

That's double what I was hoping for. I still might do it, but am in no rush at that price.

I have an 18 1LE in summit white.
I'd like to find someone locally who has a solid black 18 1LE that would be interested in doing a hood swap.
I pull the wrap on your hood and I'll have a painted black hood.
You pull the wrap on my hood and you'll have a painted white hood.
Both of us will be done with this temporary and highly vulnerable vinyl wrap crap.

Just had my hood painted the same color as the mirrors and spoiler.....came out awesome!! I will post pics when I pick the car up.

Awesome... Please post photos... I'm pretty much done with this vinyl wrap crap.
Does GM have a paint code for the mirrors and spoiler?

$625 is crazy.

I prices out my hood awhile back. $250 Cdn
Another $200 for the roof.

My car is done satin.

This is much more in line with what I've seen down here in Florida , one place down here that applied my stinger on my c7, will put the hood on if you bring them the materials for $125.

Just got the car back yesterday afternoon.....couldn't be happier. The sheen matches the mirrors and spoiler perfect!! Best thing was the price!! $0.00 The wrap on my car looked gray and really distracted from the looks of the car so the dealer had his paint shop work their magic.

Niceville, huh. We are relatively close by. A buddy of mine just picked up an 18 1LE as well. I’m sure we’d both be very interested in seeing your hood and finding out where it was done at.

So the dealer agreed to strip the wrap and paint the hood for free because you complained that the wrap was already fading?! Wow, great deal!

Here's a possible option. Expel makes a "stealth" film which you can see in this pic over the stock hood on the 1LE on the right, makes it look more satin instead of matte. Ideally I'd like to have it painted then covered with film to prevent chips which I'm already getting in the OEM wrap!
